Milton starting QB..

I saw some touch passes last night but they were mostly within 20 yards. The bombs down the sidelines still need work on accuracy. I think Joe will be fine and will improve despite many fans worries.
I saw no touch last night. He does not look improved at all. It is what it is. Love his talent and love his personality. I even think the team loves him as a leader. He's just not QB1 material.

He stood tall in the picket and did not panic. He was under control. I believe if he puts in the work he can get those bombs to drop for the receivers. I was more disappointed we didn't see more 10 - 20 yard throws to get him into stride.

It's tough to take much from Milton's performance last night. Throwing in the rain sucks. Some may downplay it, but I think they'd be surprised how much of an impact it can have.

We should know more after the bowl game. He'll have a month to prep with the 1's.... And hopefully better conditions to gauge where we're at.

Hopefully he keeps improving during the off season but from what I seen tonight he just can’t reel in that cannon for an arm he has. Guy has the strongest arm I have ever seen but he has to get better on the intermediate throws and moving the sticks. Only time will tell hope they can coach him up. Go Vols!
Maybe the rain impacted his release. Maybe that slowed the WRs. I thought we’d see more intermediate routes. No question our WRs we’re getting separation. I thought the one to Fant was a weak attempt on Fants part. Obvious we need to further develop the run game. Next years backfield will be loaded. If they can assemble a decent Oline, it may lift the burden off the QB.

"BAZOOKA JOE' has yet to figure out how to throw a TOUCH pass! Michigan was like please transfer and did you see Huepel face in the 1st quarter when Bazooka Joe overthrew a touchdown pass when the receiver had his man beat by 4 yards!!

Seems like a great guy and teammate but I don't know if he ever develops any touch. He probably overthrew 7 or 8 passes last night. Remove that first pass completion and he threw for 80 yards in 4 quarters and missed 3 or 4 guys that were wide open for touchdowns. That is not how the Tennessee, coach Josh H offense is designed to operate. -
he has been coached up for 4 years now, hopefully he will improve before next season, or some young gun will step in and fill the void. Here's hoping to he plays great in the bowl game.

Nico is even more accurate than Hendon.
Nico is just as fast as Hendon even at 6'6.
But he's not as strong.

Doesn't matter that he's 18 years old.
He will far and away be the best QB we have.

JM has an NFL arm which NFL receivers can track down but not college receivers. He needs to learn how to throw a touch pass and finesse the ball in the receiver's catch box. Bending his knees on short and medium passes will lower the ball's trajectory. HH was a master of it. Incoming freshman Nico is extremely accurate with his throws... short, medium and long balls. He has "touch". Milton better learn how not to overthrow his receivers or he'll be a backup QB for a second year.

I think he can and hopefully will. I think he was just a little excited today especially after the first drive and also the rain/wind affected him. He probably felt he had to put more into his throws because of the conditions and put too much. There were also throws that the wind carried to the left that the commentators pointed out. People forget Josh Allen looked exactly the same with his deep throws his first two years and he fixed it and became an MVP caliber qb. This gives me hope for Joe.
Wishful thinking. He is what he is

Maybe Milton can get some more help in the off season . If he could just go 50 % on those deep balls that would be great. And get a better feel of when to run. I really like Bazooka Joe he loves the team and wearing orange hope he can get it .
I would take 35%.

Joe just throws hard, he doesn't seem to feel the deep throw like Hooker does/did...Just a little more arch on some of his deep throws would be perfect...Let the receiver run under the ball, instead of the ball to the receiver...But damn, he can throw the hell out of the ball.
His motion is effortless, doesn't even look like he's trying hard when he throws it 60+ yards. It's an amazing thing to watch someone with a live arm like that.

Lord I wish he had touch and better accuracy...

He didn’t look that bad to me. He had some overthrows that were frustrating, otherwise he seemed to run the offense pretty well. That’s the first time this year that our run game looked dominant and we even had a couple linemen out too I think.

I am thankful for his role as a backup…especially with all of our injuries. I’m also grateful for his persistence and positive attitude, BUT he would not start as a QB at any other SEC school. After 5 years in college ball what you see is what you get…we can’t have such an inconsistent performance, game in and game out, especially in our cutthroat SEC schedule. Everyone saw the same Milton we saw last year…rain or no.

I've been pondering Milton a bit. He's got great physical skills. I'm wondering if he needs help with the mental part of the game.

Vol Network did a pregame interview where Joe essentially said he liked to have fun with his teammates. He wasn't talking about at the pool hall or Top Golf. I noticed him bobbing his head around to the music a LOT in pregame and during the game. Could it be he just doesn't understand the gravity of being the QB of an elite football program? Is he taking the opportunity seriously and putting in the WORK? I would think the staff would recognize and help correct if it was a problem.

Did any of his receivers get jammed off the line, did they slip a bit on wet turf or did they slow their runs and cuts just a bit due to the conditions?

Y’all go spend some time in the wind and constant rain throwing a football 40+ yards and please report back on how good you did.😂

No, he tries hard. He’s just got too much Wild Thing Rick Vaughn in him.

I just wonder - - has he ever attended the "Manning QB school"? You would think one or all three of those top notch QB's and teachers could get him straightened out. Meaning teach him to be a passer not just the best dam- thrower most of us have ever seen. I also hope the can become a better runner, man his size is hard to believe. He would never be a Dobbs or Hooker, but lord, at his size many defensive players would not like taking him on man to man. Last night I expect he was not allowed to run as there was little to back him up with.

He’s going to get pressured after Jackson is back and Nico is here. He still severely lacks touch on longer passes. I don’t think it’s a given that he’ll be the man next year

He's not able to stop overthrowing the ball. He hasn't progressed an inch since last season. CJH has his work cut out for him next off season. We will likely get blown out in this years bowl game with Milton under center.
