Robert DeNiro in any comedy role. I love DeNiro as an actor, but when I heard he was going to be taking on comedic roles, I cringed. He proved me completely wrong, especially in "Meet the Parents". Guy has serious acting chops.

Fight Club

Jack - The were looking at Matt Damon and Sean Bean for the role before selecting Norton.

Tyler - Russell Crowe was the first pic for Tyler Durden. Pitt ended up getting the part instead.

Jack Nicholson as the Joker. That's right, let's travel back in time to that Batman movie. When I heard he was playing the Joker, I thought, "no effing way". Totally different take than the one Heath Ledger would use years later, but brilliant nonetheless. He played the Joker right up to the proper point of crazy. Every other villain in that franchise went over the top.

How could Jack Torrance not be perfect for the Joker?

I really wasn't sure what to think of Downey Jr as Tony Stark but now I can't imagine anyone else in the role.

Had no idea Robin Williams could pull off the degree of creepy he did in One Hour photo.

Will Smith as James West. Not that the movie "Wild, Wild, West" was great, but it could have been a lot worse.

After being directed by Christopher Nolan in a villain role you didn't think he could handle it again?

It wasn't about playing a villain (and I've still yet to actually watch Insomnia, so there's that to consider) but I just didn't picture Williams as being the guy to pull off Seymour Parrish. Obviously it worked.
