Both were in their 3rd year in their system and both were in their first year of significant live action in that system. Joe has started like 4 games in his career before this year.

Plus, he’d only have to get a little bit better to match Milroe’s passing stats. No need to get much better to do that.

He had 4 here and 5 at Michigan prior to this season. It’s not a lot but it’s 9x what Milroe had and he had worked with 2 great QB HC’s in Harbaugh and Heup. The timing issues and lack of touch that Joe exhibited don’t improve with better talent.
