Is this a new thing? It's the first time I've seen that angle used and I watch quite a few games on ESPN.....

It is. The announcers said before the game it was something they are trying. Kind of like the sky cam for the NFL games.

In a local media interview an ESPN representative agreed the first half video was "BRUTAL". They seemed to abandon it as best they could in the second half. I'm fairly certain they won't try that again (at Rupp Arena anyways).
