If an airplane broke apart before hitting the water, wouldn't it be likely that there would be some floating debris?

More than likely. But if it hit the water intact, it could sink like the Air France flight in 2009

What's found (or not found) can depend on who's doing the searching. And I'm not just refering to competency. Sometimes people want the truth to stay hidden.

Not to sound all conspiracy theory.....

Yes, most likely. Seat cushions or pieces of them, carbon fiber, fiber glass or other composites that are buoyant. Of course as time drags on and assuming this flight in fact disappeared over water, debris will spread out from the crash site, some objects get waterlogged and eventually sink, etc..

Wondering how many times these stolen passports have been used in dry runs.

If 2-3 terrorists boarded the plane to somehow make it crash:

1) why is no one taking responsibility;
2) assuming they blew it up such that there was no communication of a problem, why did they have to be on the plane at all;
3) if it was to take over the plane then shouldn't there have been a communication?

Really does not make sense as terrorism. Seems more likely they were attempting illegal immigration.

I didn't know people were trying to illegally immigrate to Beijing.

The pilot had over 18,000 hours of flight time. In a plane that that has a great history of being safe.

Osama bin Laden never claimed responsibility for 9/11 either.

Maybe no one is saying anything because it was a dry run of sorts and they found a new way to take down planes? With visas that were stolen years ago, this has clearly been planned out for a while. I think this was a test to see if they could pull it off. There's no way this wasn't the results of terrorist actions.

1. Do you think stolen passports are really tough to get?

2. Do you think the only reason someone would use a stolen passport is for terrorism?

3. Do you think the fact that 1.7% of the passengers on this flight out of Malaysia used stolen passports is ridiculously high or abnormal for international flights out of Malaysia?

I'm leaning towards a massive electrical failure, there's some talk that the plane may have turned and began backtracking, which might indicate that they didn't know where they were, and had no commo? Just my $.02.
