What makes you think their economy would collapse?
Because a large portion of their economy is based on illegal drug trade.

Significant is probably better choice if words.....

Also collapse is probably overstating it, but there would be a major shrinking of their economy until things evened out.

I've read that it's around 5%. I don't know that losing that much would crash the economy. Certainly some localities would be hurting though.

I haven't been able to find a number doing a quick search but remember, the cartels also run legitimate businesses that are directly tied to the criminal enterprises that go away if you take away the drug market.

I've read they branched out (pun intended) to avocados.

I don’t think that legalizing the hard drugs would change things much. The government won’t allow those businesses to operate like regular commercial enterprises. They’d be regulated out of existence. Prices will be sky high and the cartels would still be operating a black market. Also, every time a customer ODs or messes up their life, the industry will be facing debilitating, civil litigation.

That's definitely how NOT to do it.

A quick google has it at anywhere between 5% and 20% depending on the publication.

So you think that legalize drugs in America will hurt mexican cartels?

Before AZ legalized weed, the best deal I knew of was an oz for $240. Now, you can get it for $84 after taxes. Cartel can't compete with that.

"In 2009, the 3.3 million pounds of cannabis seized represented 98% of the 3.4 million pounds of illicit drugs seized at U.S. borders. By 2020, illicit cannabis seizures dropped to 600,000 pounds"

The only thing that will change in Mexico is how much more influence and control the cartels will continue to gain over policy, politicians and bureaucrats.

I just started. Going to try some Vegemite with slices soon. Never have had Vegemite.

I haven’t had an over ripe or under ripe one yet. One of those things might knock it out of my rotation pretty quick.
Keep us posted on how that goes. I've heard that some people actually like the taste of Vegemite.

I’ve read that it is kind of salty and has a strong flavor. Said to just spread a small amount.

I hope that the Mexican cartels don’t own the brand.

Amazon might be an exclusive distributor in Knoxville. Whole Foods.

You could say this exact same post but make it about alcohol.
