Does Tennessee try to poach any players from Mississippi State with their firing of Arnett today?

By all means, let's grab a bunch of players from all the teams that were so bad that they got their head coaches fired (some of them before the season even ended). What could possibly go wrong?
Right! I mean they couldn’t possibly have anyone worth having .
We fired JP, who would of wanted Jaylen Hyatt??? Or Darnell Wright

Are we going to start a thread like this for every team that fires their coach?
Maybe I'm the only one who sees the irony in threads discussing the possibility of defections from a class/roster when a coach is terminated yet everyone is so gung ho about seeing us fire Banks and/or Martinez. Like that's going to be ignored by the defensive talent this staff is accumulating? Or maybe they think the portal is filled with one way streets and they all lead to Knoxville?

When you think about it, college football staffs now ask the same questions NFL draft specialists used to ask: "Do we take the best player available, or do we address positions of need?"

So for anyone who knows MissState's roster... Who are their best athletes regardless of position?

And for VolNation Sabremetric Specialists and Chicken Bone Readers... what are our positions of need?
(LOL--asking that question here is like taking little kids into a round room and telling them there's free money in the corner!)

I’m a nerd for this type of stuff but the coaching candidates and coaches with ties to the program now could make this a fun coaching search. Don’t think Mullen, Diaz, or Beamer take it but there’s surprisingly a lot of solid options for them imo

Deep down, Mullens may regret his decision to leave Miss State for Florida. They loved him down there when he was their coach.

Well he isn’t going to be offered the job so taking it won’t even be an option for him lol.

eh his wife is a Starkville native and graduated from Miss St. Shane also coached there for a little bit and their new AD was at OU when he was there. He's not gonna take it but I would imagine they at least reach out and gauge his interest

I saw the clip you were referencing during his presser. You cannot seriously believe there is any real interest from MSU to hire a coach that is 4-6 in Year 3 and has a worse record at South Carolina at this point than Will Muschamp did in Year 3? Come on man….
