Why would anyone want to play "old man football" anyway...it's not like it won any team a national championship anyway. Sheesh...geeez! jk

Defense, return game spark Tigers in opener Tiger Extra - Mizzou Sports | ColumbiaTribune.com

In the final tune-up for next week's SEC opener against No. 6 Georgia, Missouri outgained SLU 452-223, collected four sacks and four takeaways and backed a sometimes sluggish offense with four nonoffensive touchdowns.

But the celebration won't last long.

"We all recognize that things are going to crank up, without question, next week," Pinkel said. "Trust me. We know."

That doesn't mean Missouri kept plays under wraps against last night's opponent.
"People that save things, a lot of times they save it for the next coach," Pinkel joked. "I'm not a big saver."

Nor a big believer in hyping what figures to be the most anticipated Missouri game in years, perhaps ever.

That, apparently, was defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson's job.

Asked if he watched Georgia's opener against Buffalo earlier in the day — a 45-23 Georgia victory — Richardson replied, "I watched that game. I turned it off, too. … It's like watching Big Ten football. It's old-man football."

"If we execute," he added, "nobody in this league can touch us. Period."

I'm hoping for an UGA loss this week.

However, someone needs to put that DT on his rear a few times with a pancake block or two.

If I knew how to inset a .gif, I would put the "this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs" commercial.

But I can't.

Mizzou will be beat up from playing a full SEC schedule by the time they come to Knoxville. I don't care about the bulletin board material. I want Mizzou to win, because it helps us more in the East.

Would prefer they beat just about anyone they face in the SEC minus Tennessee. F Georgia.

"No one can touch us."

Oh really? What will you say after Georgia crushes you? And it WILL happen. Mizzou will be lucky to win 3 SEC games. This kid doesn't know what he's saying. If he did, he wouldn't say it.

I can't bring myself to root for A&M or Mizzou in any of these SEC games. Almost like they for sure deserve a hazing period where each SEC team curb stomps the daylights out of them. Then after that, I won't have a problem rooting for Mizzou over Florida or UGA. I'd hate for inferior competition to come in and have a decent year. They each deserve Kentucky like seasons for about 3 years. ;)

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter. I'm totally against hazing when it comes to fraternities and teams, but Mizzou deserves some good old-fashioned SEC hazing. You don't just come over here and win. Not in the SEC. As I said, they'll learn. But being the newbies and knowing how great this conference is, why would you want to piss everyone off by saying something like that? It's as I said: If he'd already been here, he wouldn't have been stupid enough to say that. He'll learn.

T.J. Moe, an admittedly solid receiver, is doing a little talking too. He's acting like there won't be any sort of transition period, like they're going to be just fine. I hope they go winless.

This is typical Mizzou. Trust me. My wife is from Kansas and I've been up there enought to see their fanbase up close and personal. It's ain't pretty. Think Bama without the tradition and winning.

"Old man football." It's time to welcome Mizzou to the SEC.

No kidding. I hope Georgia kills them. I don't know why you'd want to piss off the SEC. I can't imagine that has ever ended well for anyone.

I don't know about "old man" football, but he will learn quickly the SEC is "grown man" football.

I hope they beat Georgia, but that "old man football" is gonna have them taking Geritol by the time they travel to Knoxville.

See here's the thing I don't get here...the comment, the smack, was directed solely at UGA and their style of play, not at anyone else in the conference or at the conference as a whole...why is everyone seemingly rushing to UGA's aid here on this

Anyone else makes this comment, most people here would be laughing or (after week 1) also calling UGA overrated

You know how we would root for Georgia in their bowl game at the end of the year? How we rooted for Alabama against Michigan and for Auburn against Clemson? We always root for our fellow conference members once they are playing outside the conference.

This is the same idea. These guys are new, so no one really considers them a true part of the SEC. So when they, or anyone else, take a shot at Georgia, they're taking a shot at the conference. They just are. The SEC is a sort of brotherhood. We may fight amongst ourselves, but once someone else comes in and tries to hurt one of our own, we rush to their aid. It sounds cheesy I know, but, for me at least, that is one of the many things that sets this conference apart from the others.

Besides, he also said something along the lines of "when we're clicking, no one can touch us." And that, indisputably, IS a shot at the whole conference, albeit indirect.

I would be willing to bet that Florida, Georgia, Bama, LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, and South Carolina fans are mostly rooting against Mizzou as well.

Whats this "we" crap? I hope Mizzou embarrasses UGa. And for the record I rooted for Michigan to beat Alabama.
