the condition the party is in has been caused by liberal to moderate republicans, including the former President, to paint themselves as democrat-lite.

you're right that Franken should never have been allowed to be this close, but last year was a perfect storm with the popularity of Obama, the media destruction of Sarah Palin, and the financial crisis, and ACORN.
Sarah Palin being a provincial, uninformed rube had far more to do with her "destruction" than any other factors.

I disagree. She was mishandled by the McCain campaign from start to finish. Joe Biden is a bigger idiot than Palin will ever be, and his gaffes and foibles were either glossed over or completely ignored by the media.

I'm pretty sure Biden could at least give a cursory description of the Bush Doctrine. Governor Lipstick couldn't do so. She's trailer trash dressed up in designer clothes. Nothing more.

Then America should just annoint Bill Gates and Ross Perot as co-Presidents. Since the ability to show balance sheet success is the only necessary qualification, I can't wait for the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus to grow into Republican icons.

Co-Presidents? What are you talking about? My post was in regards to your "awful reviews" the games got from participating nations. Ohhh....that is terrible...hope Latvia has since forgiven him.

Thank you all of you Southern Republicans that voted for Mike Huckabee rather than a mormon, splitting the conservative vote and allowing a septagenerian loser to be nominated to run against Obama.:banghead2:

After watching Obama's economic cast of clowns in the first three weeks of the new administration, I can only reflect on how it might how been had someone with business and fiscal acumen been at the helm.

Screw Romney. Ron Paul, Tancredo and Duncan Hunter were the only guys that had a real vision.

Actually, you can thank Sarah Palin for no R's in the White House. Had McCain nominated Romney, he would have done a lot better. Not to mention a catastrophic economic collapse.

I still think Obama wins that one though.

Because, without her, and the nomination of a qualified candidate like Romney, or even a Huckabee, which would have done just as well with the social conservatives, McCain is at least in the same ballpark as Obama, thus, giving him a chance to win.

Unfortunately close doesn't count in this game...I, too, think that McCain loses to Obama regardless of Palin...that's why I don't think it is right to pin it on her. I really can't stand her...but fair is fair.

Yea, you can't really put 100% of the blame on Palin losing. However, I still think she plays a very important role in McCain losing.

Not to mention that accent drives me buggers.

as a lawyer, you of all people know that you can indict a ham sandwich.

every Olympiad has it's controversies and problems.

the 2002 Winter games took place on US soil less than 6 months after 9-11. There was a LOT of national pride on display and that's what participating nations didn't like.

How do you know other nations didn't like it? Your "educated" opinion?
