So at what point does Jones make strides to improve his lot? Or is it always going to be "x started with this, poor Butch Jones didn't have that, so he can't succeed"?

Next year's recruiting class is 100 percent him, obviously.

I'm not saying that today wasn't disappointing. I've been concerned about Jones's recruiting ever since he was hired; if he'd pulled Bell or been able flip a couple more guys, it would have gone a long way towards allaying those fears. But he didn't. So no excuses next year.

First signing class of CBJ era and already the hate going on about the class. WOW! We have been through a long tough stretch with hiring our 3 coaches in 5 years. We need to be thankful kids want to come play here being that our so called Loyal fan base is always bashing the signing class, current players and coaching staff. We ALL knew DD was not the answer.... 5th choice if you recall and 4 other coaches turned us down. So CBJ and his staff has a huge task ahead of them... But I tell you what.. They will earn their pay and earn the respect that is so overdue from our so call real vol fans. How you call yourself a fan but yet bash our program..Shame on YOU! When the victories start coming this year.. Stay away. We dont want any of your hater aid to rubb off. GO VOlS 4 Life.

:good!:

A very fair assessment.

I also agree that Jones should have went after bigger names for the coordinator position. But I'm going to trust his judgement. With his style, he wanted people familiar with his style/system. I guarantee you Dools couldn't go to the Big East and even have CBJ's record. Dools tarnished relationships that had been in place for years, slacked on recruiting, and about every big name we got flopped! I think next year will there will be a better outcome. To be honest, this year I don't care about our record. What I want to see is fundamental ball, being competitive, and making the adjustments each week to better ourselves. Under Dools, we were always complacent and we never progressed as a team.

If Vonn Bell's father/coach are to be trusted then if Dooley had even returned a phone call or made any attempt at recruiting Vonn Bell then CBJ likely would have had a better UT-VB relationship to work with.

rudy123's post was good but he left out a national championship, we should have at least 1 by 2017 no excuses.

Florida's attendance would drop bigtime if they had just one season like we've seen the past few years.

Floridas attendance already dropped..So has Alabamas..everyone in the SEC has across the board 10% drop in ticket sales..Tennessee was the place it was used to justify firing 2 coaches..I went to evey game in Dooleys Kiffins and the last 5 years of Fulmers and the only 3 times i didn have ass room were ALL at Neyland..2006 Cal,2010 Oregon, and 2012 Floida..the 2011 Florida and Bamagames had 2/3 full upper decks on the road..people arent able to pay 70 bucks todo this 6 or 7 times a year..We have just shot the wad on stadium redos and coaching welfare..
