Moved away from Tennessee to the desert and am going to be doing my first baseball season not in the South. No way, I am going to be able to sit over here and watch the Dodgers everyday, so thankfully they have the MLB Extra Inning package available.

I am hoping to get some feedback from some of you outta market fans who have purchased it before. First, the most important thing to me, I have heard from folks out this way that anytime the Braves will come out on a West Coast swing, all the games will be blacked out. I just saw on the MLB.TV, the internet package, that NO games are blacked out. I would rather watch the games on the TV, but missing that many games?? Seems ridiculous.

And second, is it possible to pick between the home or away broadcast? With the NBA package, they sometimes have that choice but not all of the time. On the MLB.TV package, they say you always have that choice. If I cant hang with Carey/Simpson every game, I am not sure it would be worth having for the television and instead, might have to get used to watching games on the laptop..

So, any feedback? Thanks.

Here is the internet package..Heck of a deal.

I don't remember any times that I couldn't chose to listen to the Reds broadcasters when using mlb.tv and another great thing they do is archive all games so you can go back and watch them.

That sounds incredible. Fuel my addiction.

Got mlb.tv for $80 last year for the Yanks. It was heaven. It's such the better deal. Esp because Extra Innings is what, like $250?

Just checked out MLB.tv's offers, and wait until after spring training to get it, the price will go down $20.

As long as you have good high speed internet, it's really not bad. Especially if you can get a cable to hook it up to your tv.

No matter what, you have to get the MLB Network as part of whatever route you take with cable/satellite because that is where the baseball God is now at and ole' Bob Costas.

Indeed, you just have to have the right hook ups both on your TV and computer.

Waiting for the Spring Training games before I buy.

Just take your laptop to Radioshack or Best Buy and they should be able to tell you what you need.

Will do..I am in the market, oddly enough, for a new television. Buying one sometime next week.

The blackouts on MLB.tv really suck. No braves games here in Tennessee.

I usually get it anyway.

The iPhone app is especially nice. Although streaming video eats up an already suspect battery on the iPhone pretty quickly.

How often are games blacked out? You may not know... But would Nationals games be blacked out in NC a lot? or anywhere?

If you get MASN it'll be blacked out, just like Braves games here in Knoxville are blacked out.

I get Fox Sports Ohio and the Reds games are never blacked out here:dunno:.

I've never had any problem watching a game on mlb.tv.

Unfortunately, you're screwed VolinVegas. If you’re in Las Vegas, 6 teams (Giants, A’s, Angels, Dodgers, Padres, and Diamondbacks) claim the location and those game are blacked out. So when the Braves play those teams, you can't watch them on mlb.tv or EI. You can watch them when they play non-West Coast teams though.

As for which is better: it depends on your cable/satellite provider. Some do a good job, some don't. DirecTV does a great job with home and away feeds and lots of HD options. Mlb.tv is cheaper, but unless you are tech-savvy or know someone who is to set it up to watch on your TV, I would go with EI. Much less hassle.
