Watching the MNF game. Tony K, made a comment before going to break:

"Coach Phillips has seen that before -- in Tennessee."

Almost sounded like he didn't know he was on the air. Witten had contributed heavily to the drive, including an incredible catch for a TD.

But I cannot resolve Tony's comment and the laughter to it?

Anybody not as dense as I, figure that one out?

Maybe when he was the Buffalo coach and got beat by the Titans? I don't know.

Its most likely a Titans reference. Tony K doesnt know squat about college football.

Phillips was coach of the Bills during the Music City miracle. I didn't see the play, but maybe it's a reference to that?

He's referring to the Music City Miracle in 1999...Here's a brief account:
One of the most memorable finishes in NFL playoff history gave the Tennessee Titans the franchise’s first playoff win since 1991, a 22-16 stunner over the visiting Buffalo Bills. After Steve Christie kicked a 51-yard field goal to give Buffalo a 16-15 lead with 16 second remaining, the Titans’ Kevin Dyson returned a Frank Wycheck lateral on the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown, scoring with three seconds left in the game. The play termed by many as the “Music City Miracle,” gave Tennessee a 22-16 lead that turned into a victory after Buffalo’s last-ditch hopes for a matching return touchdown were thwarted.

I'm a HUGE kornheiser fan. is there any commentator, analyst, tv announcer that the typical UT fan actually likes?

I liked Mike, Mike, & Mike (Ditka) when they called the first MNF game of the year.

I like PTI. Don't care for Kornheiser so much on MNF, but he is getting better.

Ron Jaworski is the best thing going for NFL at ESPN.

i dunno. Clayton is pretty good IMO as well. Too bad they usually stick him with salisbury. He's fun to watch on TV but he doesn't know jack about getting his point across. I don't care if he was a qb

Stay up late one night and check out NFL Matchup, which comes on right after the College Football recap. He's solid gold when it comes to the XO's of football.

I know that doesn't translate into great announcing but it tickles my fancy. Different strokes for different folks.

No No, not at all Business. Jaws is fantastic. I'm a huge fan of his. He's all i pay attention on Sunday Mornings. that and whatever Frank Caliendo does for his skit on Fox. Jaws is pure gold. I just think Clayton is a little better.

Kornheiser is a douche. Everything that comes out of his mouth is gargbage.

I don't understand the need to put the "non-football" perspective in the booth for football games. How many housewives, or college professors, or whatever audience they think they are atracting that normally wouldn't watch the game, tune in because Kornheiser (or Miller before him) is making lame jokes about Martin Luther? Who's next? Oprah? Richard Simmons?

Kornheiser, Limbaugh, and Dennis Miller... that tells you all you need to know right there.

I actually got great pleasure from listening to John Madden and Dennis Miller try to talk football. It was ridiculous, and it was funny in a squirmy, uncomfortable sort of way. :)
