Everything doesn't come down to NIL. They are the defending National Champs, and likely to repeat. They are also putting a ton of defensive players into the NFL. They have surpassed Bama as the undisputed best program in the country right now. That's not tooting their horn, that's just the reality of things currently. It's going to be difficult to win the majority of recruiting battles against them if they really want a player (without using nefarious means). The key is to win some of them, which we have.

LOL at folks pretending its cool we didn't land M'Pemba.

Crazy happy we landed Hobbs (thus far) but SM is a freak.

If we haven't noticed, player development is more important than landing 5 stars.

A good example of having all the talent but no leadership/coaching is Texas A&M

We're only 2 years in but it remains to be seen if our staff can develop 3 stars to play like 5 stars................THAT"S

how you change a program.

Our #6 ranking shows we are headed in the right direction. (Yes, #6 we beat bama!!!!!)

Idk about cool, but it’s fine we didn’t land M’Pemba. He’s been UGA bound. It would have been a total shock if he picked Vols.

This is where people like me say that you can't view recruiting like an AP poll. Recruiting is more of an art than a science. Yes, being ranked #1 in recruiting is better than being ranked #20. And if you want to complete for national titles you need to be in the top 10. But when it gets down to the top 10 it's more about getting what you need and having the coaches to coach. Georgia doesn't get every 5 star. Alabama doesn't. And you can look no further than last season where A&M got the number 1 class and yet they aren't even going to a bowl game. Georgia Southern beat Nebraska, a team with far more talent at every position but not well coached. Tennessee did more with less than any other team this year. If Tennessee can get top 10 classes and Heupel can keep doing what he is doing then Tennessee will continue to win big games even if some of the 5 stars don't come here.

We arent going to magically pass them and start bringing all the talent we need at once. It's going to take time. We have been top 20 in recruiting for a while, especially since you factor in everyone leaving with Pruitt. That top 20 recruiting got us to number 1 for one brief shining moment. Now we are top 10 recruiting. Stack a couple of those classes together, and we should maintain our success. Right now we are just above South Carolina in total talent. String some top 10s together and then we put Carolina in their place. Then we get Top 5 classes, and it will take several and we will be on par with Georgia talent wise.

Even if we did have the number 1 class, doesnt mean we would beat them, look at TAMU.

Good coaching got us a 10-2 record. Better talent and we are 11-1. It's never just one thing or the other, you have to have both to be consistently great. Look at Bama, talent all over and really they owe their wins to 1 player.

If we take care of QB, with let's say a 5 star QB, tops at his posistion; all the other talent, and coaching, starts looking way better.
