Mocs take down Stanford

A lot of strange things going on in women's college basketball. UTC beats Tennessee and Stanford. Stanford beats UConn, UConn beats Notre Dame by 20, Notre Dame beats UTC by 35. You have to come to play every night.

It's called parity, and I think it's great for WBB. It's been that way for years on the men's side, so why not the women's? Who wants to see the same teams dominate year after year (except Tenn of course). A lot of these mid majors are somehow able to put together competitive teams and it's great to see.

Sounds great in theory, until UConn is cutting down the nets for the third straight year in April.

The only "parity" is the fight for second place....

I know I said it in another thread but my niece plays for UTC. She is not getting much playing time right now but CJF told her she will in the future. I am very proud of her.:rock::rock:
Congratulations. Keep us updated on her the next few years. I'll pull for her as long as they aren't playing the Ladys:clapping::dance2:

I think we are seeing the start of parity in the women's game. This is good for women's basketball. I believe it will increase the games popularity.

I don't think it is as much an example of parity as it is Stanford traveling four time zones and playing a basketball game. They came out early so they could get acclimated and thought they'd schedule a warm-up game before Saturday. It backfired a little on them because they didn't realize UTC would be that tough at home. They should be acclimated by Saturday though.

I pray it will. I support the LV's 100%, I just hate seeing the program muddle around with the talent on board.

The Chattanooga Lady Mocs are the best Women's Basketball team in Tennessee. Great Coaching will take you a long way.

Let's not get carried away. UTC currently has more losses than we do (two to unranked teams), less wins, and their two signature wins were both at home whereas we went on the road to beat a ranked Rutgers team.

UT Chattanooga seems to be a very good home team not much on the road. I imagine we win by 20 if they came to Knoxville. This year it seems a lot of teams on a given night can beat top teams. You can't coach effort and sometimes teams don't come to play. We didn't come to play at Chattanooga until the second half and then it was to late. UConn failed to show up at Stanford game was close down the stretch and Stanford made the big shot to win. UTC went to Notre Dame and got pounded by thirty. Then UConn goes to Notre Dame and wins by 18. Then Stanford goes to UTC and loses by 8. You must have forty minutes of effort or someone is going to beat you. I think the closest we've came to forty minutes of effort was at Rutgers. We shot horribly but we kept making plays and found a way to win.

I think we can beat Stanford if we have a good crowd who make a lot of noise and get our girls fired up and play at their highest level. Make no mistake that Stanford is going to play a lot differently than they did against the MOCs. Those MOC's fans definitely give their basketball team a home court advantage. I wish our fans were as delirious.

We just need to give the crowd something to be delirious about. That will depend upon our ladies' mindset and toughness. Just looking at the UCONN game against DePaul, it is no doubt that the toughness, tenacity, and the will to win are major traits which gets UCONN fans into a frenzy. UCONN just dare you to beat them. These are characteristics I have seen lacking in our ladies the past 5 years.

Uconn players are in the gym on their own, working on their game, getting up shots.

Kia Nurse hmmm she's going to be another good one. dang

We may not like Genno or UCONN but he demands excellence from his players and they adopt his personality. They are almost too cocky, but it works for them. Most of the time fear is UCONN's 6th player on the court. UCONN players know that they have to get better or they might never see the floor. There are no automatic at UCONN.

True...Nothing like shooting and coaching for excellence. Ahh the days.

I don't like Uconn, but I certainly respect them.

That's one of the major differences between us and UConn right now.
Most of the game they have 4 if not all 5 players on the court who can shoot the ball, we don't. It makes it too easy for our opponents to defend against us. They just pack it in and dare our players to beat them from outside.
I won't go into the coaching comparison.
