Do you remember in 2007 when Bucs QB Bruce Gradkowski was being mentioned in the Toledo points-shaving scandal? Here's what Jon Gruden had to say then, "I don't watch ESPN. I don't believe half the [bleeping] people on the channel, personally. No disrespect, but if Bruce Gradkowski is throwing games in Toledo, how in the hell does he lead the NCAA in passing percentages? That is a crock. You know, these reports make me sick. Really. I don't believe there is any truth to it, and I'll go to my grave believing that. I hope ESPN 3 or 4 has real sources behind this story, because it has nothing to do with the kid. He's a great kid. He wants to be great. This is very uncharacteristic, in my opinion, of 'professional' journalism."


Nice! This also makes it possible that Gruden has never even seen Monday Night Football. I can't wait for that first game. Buffalo @ New England, September 14th.

I just want to say i admire Chucky for being able to balance a head coaching career with the Bucs and be a color man for MNF. well done..

I'm glad kornheiser is gone but don't know how good Gruden will be. It could be worse, atleast it's not Shannon marble mouth Sharpe replacing him.

I heard Gruden's wife was once a cheerleader at UT and they own property in Knox County. I believe he is just doing this waiting for the UT job to open up again.

Isnt that an expression used before something officially happens.
I dont exactly follow the NFL too much but I dont think the Bucs are going to have much to do with him

No, others started a thread but have been merged into Panthro's. He is also the only one to start his in the correct forum.

When I read the thread title, I assumed he'd accepted a GA position to give his wife a chance to finally pursue her lifelong dream to coach the UT cheerleading squad. I realize thinking he'd leave the Bucs was silly as I've been tracking the story on VN. :)
