I may get slammed over this but I feel DeBord is one of the main reasons we are in the hunt for an SEC title. The 2013, 2014, and 2015 recruiting classes were brought in to run Butch's style offense. You bring in anyone else with a different philosophy you have the potential to be counter-productive in 2015 since they would be running a new system and this year we could be talking about will we finally adapt to "x" coordinators system with players that were recruited for Butch's system. Also we obviously had deficiencies at the OL coaching spot and QB coaching spot. Debord has had a successful past at coaching both. The OL did vastly improve last year the QB spot we will see this year. You get all of this plus at a lower salary = Slam Dunk Move

He would still be an administrator had we not hired him.

Also, we aren't running some concepts or schemes foreign to the rest of college football coaches.

Debord is horrible. I hated being the #2 rushing offense in the conference and the #3 scoring offense, tops in turnovers lost, and 3rd in penalty yardage last year. SMH

I think DeBord has been a fine hire. You have to remember where this program was at before CBJ got here. 3 HC's and countless assistant coaches---the NegaVols were like "best coaching staff in America?" No one wanted to come here! The fact is Butch build up this roster so he could bring in guys like Shoop and Scott. The offense has improved:

Tennessee
Scoring *2015: Points/Game 35.2
Scoring *2014: Points/Game 28.9
Scoring *2013: Points/Game 23.8

Lol. What a feat, where do you think we rank in the league in terms of pure talent?

How did the offense fare in critical moments against OU and Fl?

I can confirm Butch doesn't clear offers with me. If he did, we would be offering closer to 150 than 350. TIFWIW

I think Debord gets crap because he was in charge of Michigan's Olympic sports programs---he wasn't working in either the NFL or as a coordinator/coach at the college level. Although his football resume is extensive--longer than most people have been alive. He wasn't on anyone's radar...except Butch.

I'm not as black and white as others but I'd say that if I had one criticism it's we took the foot off the gas too much offensively. Debord ain't perfect but he hasn't been inept. Defense really failed us against Florida--you could argue with Oklahoma as well. We had leads---we just couldn't hold them.

Did some insider say he was cleaning swimming pools prior to this OC gig? If so, I like my future! 🍾

How many first downs did we have in the second half against OU?

Well if you had reading comprehension skills you would "read" that I said the offense took the foot off the gas. We failed because of defense as well! The offense wasn't the problem overall if you look at the season as a whole.

I read quite well, you stated the D probably failed us against OU. Did you watch the game? How many times did our O keep them off the field? It didn't take their foot off the gas, it never started the car.
