apparently some people have forgotten what arian foster did last year and in the first game. hardesty is indeed a manchild, but until foster does something to lose the job, you can't just take it away. it doesn't really matter who starts in all reality because sharing carries like they're doing is the smart thing to do. maybe coker is fumbling the ball again in practice, i dunno. or perhaps he's having some blocking breakdowns. those are the only possible explanations.

this 2 or even 3 headed monster is what we need. having a fresh back in there is nice.

then again, our o-line is average at best so we need to figure out how to be consistent and knock people back.

I was a little surprised to see Coker didn't get a carry in...though I'm quite happy with our running back situation as is.

Coach Fulmer said in the post-game that LaMarcus needs to earn the coaches' trust. Evidently he can't hold on to the ball. Coker will get more touches. He just needs to show that he won't fumble.

arian is playing well enough to be a backup right now, that being said, i think he rocks it against florida. i also think that part of his problem is the lack of running we are doing, we will have to start running it a little more eventually, when that happens he will step up. bank on it

I noticed Coker only got carries in the Cal game when the Vols were up big... I think. Perhaps the closeness of this game is what shutout Coker.

Hardesty (And Arian. Coker Whomever) need to hit the hole and run North-South if any of them are going to start, and help this offense.

Foster does it better than the other kids. It's exciting to see all the stutter steps, but Tennessee isn't getting what they should on the ground because the guys aren't hitting the holes that the O-Line is creating for them. When they begin playing SEC defenses, they won't be faking as many guys out, or running around the end.

I think as we get more experience our RB's will learn to get up the field instead of trying to make people miss. I thought foster was the worst of the two. Hardesty showed a little more quickness and willingness to get up field more.

Umm I disagree. I don't think that we have allowed a sack and we are opening holes but the RBs are missing them. We do need to run N/S more and Foster is better at that but he bummed up his ankle and could not go in the 2nd half. I think our o line is a huge suprise so far.

Looks to me like the backs are trying for the big play, instead of taking what the defense gives them. Kinda like what happen to our QB's last year.

Too much dancing around from Hardesty. Foster still looks like hes missing the best hole to run through. I think they both will settle down.

I read somewhere that Coker has had alot of issues in practice of not hanging on to the ball. That's where earning the coaches trust comes in. As far as who should start between Hardesty and Foster I like going with the dual attack as we have been. Both are getting thier carries and keeping a fresh back in there.

Run blocking and pass blocking are two very different animals. They've been great with their pass blocking... run blocking has been suspect.

the further we get into the season, the better they will get. i stick to what i said, arian will step it up against florida. i think he runs for somewhere in the neighborhood of 130 and 2 touchdowns. now if fostermom feeds him his chunky soup we could see a game for the ages :)

IMO Hardesty has looked better than Foster thus far. I think Hardesty drives harder, is more elusive, and harder to bring down. His style reminds me of Cadillac Willams.

I like Foster too, but Hardesty has impressed me a bit more. Both need to be ready to deliver some punishment to the gator defense next week.

Already said that the best thing for us is to keep them rested and pound these defenses into submission by using as many of them as can be productive. Hardesty is impressive, but we can't forget how hard Arian can run. Use them both, and let Coker get some reps too.

Hrdesty by far looks much faster. Arian looks like he is very hesitant about going into the line. looks much slower period. Hardesty once settled in will be great. He did look very winded but he has missed a lot of practice and this will improve as the year goes on. Plus they ran the be'jesus out of him on a drivr or two.

Hardesty is a 15 carry a game back. If Arian cannot get healthy Coker will need to step things up. I still think UT can win throwing the ball this year. I thought Arian looked like he played hurt all night long.

They are both thinking "TD" every single time their numbers are called. Hardesty is worse than Foster. Either of the two can be consistent 100 yard rushers if they will stop thinking about the end zone and be happy with what is there. Hardesty elected to not take pretty certain gains of 5 to 10 yards numerous times in the hope that he might pop a big one elsewhere, especially when he saw a slight chance of darting for the corner, The coach needs to extract the super run against Cal from his:realmad: memory.

No offense, but apparantly some of you have forgotten that Hardesty was the #2 RB last season before his injury. Had to be #2 behind Riggs for a reason. I still like both AF & MH.

Foster and Hardesty are both capable backs, they'll both play so it doesn't really matter who starts IMO. I'm just glad that Hardesty has come along and given Arian some support in the running game.
