According to the Tampa Tribune, Lane Kiffin is the source of reports that his father Monte will join him at the University of Tennessee next season.

Lane may not realize how strict the Bucs are about letting assistant coaches under contract go. Asked of Monte's status Sunday, Bucs GM Bruce Allen said "I address all coaching issues after the season." If Allen knows he can get Rod Marinelli to replace Kiffin, perhaps he'll let the longtime coordinator go. But for now Lane shouldn't count on his father following him to UT.

Kiffin and Manning were in school at the same time so I'm pretty sure he is right.

I believe it's just a very poorly worded sentence

it's fine with me if he's right...I'm just annoyed at all the "merge" comments and "I know more than you" comments...good lord it's a discussion board...let people discuss

I think they meant to say that Lane recruited Peyton to give a "thumbs up" on his hiring....:good!:

he was discussing the article by pointing out errors. What do you expect?

And the merge comments come when there are already 38 threads on the exact same thing. Helps keep the forum clean

I'm sure there are quite a few alumni that would pay Kiffin's buyout.

His employment exclusivity only relates to moves within the NFL. Monte or any other coach in the NFL..can do whatever they want....whenever they want...with college ball or the CFL....or any other non NFL job.

EricVol2096 has an avatar that The Ambassador really has alot of ENVY for. Per my source close to the athletic department, here are some of the staff members I have been informed of. Lane Kiffin, Monte Kiffin WILL be coming to K-Town, Reaves WILL also be here from South Carolina. There is a VERY good chance that Latrell Scott stays on board. Lane's brother from Nebraska WILL also be here in some capacity. As for Orgeron, nothing has been finalized, but he IS in discussion. That's all I am at liberty to say at this time though. Go Vols!

No way Tim 'T-Bag' Tebow is leaving early. Not unless they win the National Championship, then maybe he'll go. He's got a chance to become a two time, maybe three time Heisman winner.

What about Drayton? I think Giles comes back if he stays.

In all honesty Drayton's ass should have been canned a while ago.

Really? What makes you say that? I'm not being a smarta**, I really don't know much about what he does except that he is suppose to be a great recruiter.

It's not an issue of buyout. I don't think that Monte has a buyout. He is under contract and Tampa typically raises hell about letting their coaches out of their contracts. With that said, there is also little they can do - they will sue ... and from what I understand from previous conversations on there, it is next to impossible to show actual damages in this case. Monte will have to accept that if Tampa raises a stink, he will be dead to them, but at 68 - I doubt he really cares.

I think he may have been driving recruits away after Fulmer was fired. But I'm not sure. If that is true, no recruit would be worth keeping him for.

Will Orgeron come too? I mean we should get all the great defensive guys for sure. Who wouldn't want to learn from the best in Monte!
