For you golf thread watchers out there: realistically evaluate your game's strengths and weaknesses to give the rest of us an idea about your game.

My game: I now play a mid to high slight draw (probably physiological), but play best when hitting power fade. I'm erratic with the driver (on a relative basis), but am long enough to hit lots of 3 woods and hybrids off the box and can hit tons of fairways with those. I have absolute confidence in my iron play as it is the bedrock of my game. I spend a lot of time (when I get some) 40 yards and in, so tend to be decent there. Pretty streaky putter because my speed control isn't worth talking about any more.

Strengths:
Length
Mid to Long Irons
Hit the ball Solidly
Good short game

Weaknesses:
Erratic Driver
Mental midget - little concentration
Get too quick under pressure
Wedges should be more consistent
Putting speed

Strengths:
1. I am very long with all of my irons. I flew a green the other day with my three iron from 240. I can also hit my two iron off of the tee effectively.
2. My play around the green is good
I average about 265-280 off of the tee on a good day
3. I have a pretty consistent, steady swing.

Weaknesses:
1. I am terribly inconsitent from 100 yards in. Sometimes I try to fly my 60, and other times I 3/4 swing my 53. It is hardly ever a pretty sight. Deceleration is killing me.
2. I am ok with putting speed, but my reads are often very poor.
3. Concentration: I simply do not spend enough time over every shot, and sometimes because of my iron play, I shoot at pins over hazards that I have no business playing toward.
4. Sand play- If the sand is not just right, I seem to struggle a bit.

I'm still a beginner so my strengths are few...
1. I have the ability to hit the ball well
2. My putting reads are pretty good especially from Golden Tee putts (That's what we call those 40 foot putts, like the ones that are makable on the Golden Tee Game)
3. My putting speed is pretty good

Weaknesses:
1. I have a tendency to change my swing mid-game (For some reason I'll change the swing plane and instead of turning my hips well, I sway them...no good)
2. Let bad play get into my head and get frustrated
3. I skull a lot of close shots with my wedge, and instead of dropping it in soft on the green, I clear the thing about 10 inches off the ground.

Strengths:
Length (driver)- I hit 280-290 when I get ahold of it.
consistent irons 5-P
excellent chipping- I usually can leave myself a 5 ft putt or better.
decent putting- rarely 3 putt

Weaknesses:
Inaccurate Driver- I probably only hit 40-50% fairways
Get very irritated if I screw up an easy short
swing too hard sometimes
Have a tough time shaking off bad holes.

Strengths--
1 Length with both driver and irons
2 Distance control with full irons
3 Chipping around the greens

Weaknesses--
1 Consistently finding the fairway
2 Distance control with pitches up to a full wedge
3 Eratic putting, mainly with speed
4 I play with a girl who regularly cleans my clock. This could also, I suppose, be a strength, as it beats playing with some old man who regularly cleans my clock.

I'm a 14 handicap and would really like to get into single digits.
When I struggle it's always with the driver, I had it dialed in and had corrected the slice and was hitting a nice draw, and over the last month and half I'm pushing everything right. I think I'm going to try and shorten my backswing and concentrate on Tempo. When I really try get ahold of one is when I have the most problems.

Strengths
1. Iron Play- I'm really accurate and have my distances down

2. Putting- It really helps, that I play 95% of my golf on the same course

3. Knowing what I can and can't do. unlike lex vol, I would never try a 2 iron, let alone hitting it 240.

Weakness
1. Driver
2. Driver
3. Driver

Strengths
1. The Driver - I'm not incredibly long, but I'm long enough and pretty consistent.
2. Getting up and down
3. Managing the course
4. Recovery - This is probably an odd "strength", but I've always been pretty good at coming up with punches, sliders, swinging hooks, super slices etc to bail myself out.

Weaknesses
1. Rolling it consistently with the putter.
2. I blow a lot of scoring chances with wedges in my hand.
3. My brain expects things that my body can't always produce and I'm probably way too hard on myself on the golf course given how little I play relative to the past.

That may be one of the best qualities you can have as a golfer. Nobody cares what you shoot as long as you move along.
:good!:
count that as one of my strengths. I've been known to walk off on my group at the four hour point in the round. next time out, we move a bit faster somehow.

Playing fast is good- but I absolutely hate feeling "rushed"

It seems that we all have quite a bit in common. I can go 4, but I prefer 3- 3 1/2 hour rounds. If I am stuck in a five hour round, you can bet that my score is climbing.

a four hour round ain't rushing. I understand people looking for balls and the like, but the 10 minute sojourns on the putting greens just kill me. frickin' putt it. given what we amateurs make outside 10 feet, why spend all the energy doing the reading. we'd all make a lot more by going with our gut, firmly believing it, and hitting based upon that belief.

When it comes to speed of play, it's all about the little things like reading your putt while waiting your turn rather than waiting until everybody else putts; taking more than one club with you to your ball if you're not sure; parking your golf cart strategically so it's actually close to the green and on the way to the next tee; saving the stories for when you are in between shots or waiting on the group ahead of you etc etc etc.

Nobody likes to rush, but using a little common sense can take 30 minutes off a round of golf which is usually the difference between an enjoyable day and it feeling like drudgery.

...and for the love of Arnold Palmer. If you notice the group behind you waiting on you for more than 2 or 3 shots in a row: LET THEM THROUGH. It's not a sign of weakness or defeat.

The looking for balls kills me. There are plenty more at the store. Give it a reasonable effort and then get on with it.

I have mixed emotions about that. If I am having a good round, I am much more apt to take a few passes. If you mean looking for balls in general, there is plenty of time after 8 pm to do that.

True . . . I understand looking for a wayward ball, but if you don't find it in the first 60 seconds, you probably never will.

I agree with the good round part.

slow and steady..
you need time to visualize, take a few practice swings, address the ball, grab a little grass check windage, back away, revisualize, adresss, practice swing

then hit the ball.

Just kidding, alot of times I'll be one of the first one or two off on a Saturday or Sunday Morning, and I can play in 2 hours, 2 hours 15 minutes max.

Strenghths

Long iron play.... believe it or not 2 and 3 irons are best clubs in my bag
Chipping....get up and down consistantly from just off the green
Putting....roll the ball pretty well, read greens well, putt fast greens well

Weaknesses

Driver.....inconsistant with accuracy
Wedge game.....can't get the spin on the ball that I want from 75 to 125 out
Lack of course management near end of round......98% of the time caused by the decision to go ahead and grab another 12 pack at the turn.

Hey, I've remembered a few more strengths. Namely:

I play exceptionally fast.

My game does not significantly deteriorate until after the 5th beer.

Music eminating from the cart does not bother me one bit.

I am better than I thought.
