More music coming to 2014 SEC games

Call me a curmugdeon, but I hate this news. SEC schools have the best bands in college football, and our stadiums don't need any gimmicky recorded music between plays to get people excited. This isn't a basketball game!! Let teams without any tradition like Maryland or Oregon experiment with recorded music; the SEC is fine as it is.

This is the worst thing to happen since that effiminate "woo" was added to Rocky Top in the early 2000s.

If this means that they are gonna pump some more of that Eminem garbage over the loudspeakers in Neyland stadium then they can just shove it up their ass.

Nothing ruins a good Saturday afternoon in Neyland quite like listening to static laden Eminem right before the kickoff coverage team gives up a hundred yarder TD to Auburn. Bunch of shiz IMO.

The word music in OP is code word for more loud Jumbotron Commercials. The atmosphere at Neyland has deteriorated since the commercialization of UT football. It is becoming more and more enjoyable to sit an home and flip channels. At least I can make it to the bathroom and the fridge in 2 minutes instead of standing in line at the stadium.

And the SEC continues to pander to the lowest common denominator. Piss-poor, mood ruining crap music pushed over a poorly set-up sound system? Just another reason to bring earplugs to the game.

...or just stay home and watch in HD. I can always mute a commercial or that (c)rap music on tv. Cant at the game. if they want to push me away they're doing solid B+ work at it

All you sayin that this would make you not want to go to the games. Good. Dont need any people that sits the whole game and doesnt get loud. More room for the younger loud people .

Just because we don't like mass produced low-quality McMusic doesn't mean we're quiet and sitting on our hands. I was on my feet as much as I could when I had two legs to stand on. Heck, I can even manage being up on one leg for short bursts when things get intense. But, I digress.

Making a correlation between those who prefer a more traditional, less artificial environment and those who sit on their hands is spurious and naive.

I hope Butch plays fast enough that all they have time to play is "Woooo".

The players will like it. I'm all for it.

Looks like Butch isn't the only one who "gets it". I get that a lot of people don't like rap. But what everyone needs to remember is this isn't just for fans this is for the players. The fans aren't the only ones who hear it. The fact remains the majority of the players like rap. So if it pumps them up and energizes them I'm all for it. I was at the SC game and noticed a lot more energy on the sideline with players hyped up compared to recent years.

Once again, who pays for the tickets? All players are obligated to do is play. They'll do that no matter. Fans are there to enjoy the game, not to play. Music is for the fans, not the players. I hate it because its ruining the sport.
