Morgan Freeman: Tea Party is racist

First of all, OE is in Virginia. Pretty sure he doesn't work for Nebraska.

You love being dead ass wrong.

Law enforcement agencies across the state, including local departments, will benefit from the $787 billion federal stimulus package.

The U.S. Department of Justice has released $39.8 million in stimulus funds to Virginia public safety agencies, U.S. Sens. Jim Webb, D-Arlington, and Mark R. Warner, D-Alexandria, announced Friday.

The senators said $15.5 million will go directly to sheriffs’ offices and police departments. The rest — $24.3 million — will go to criminal justice programs.

again, chump, what happens when the money runs out?

Moving goal posts.

I'm done with this topic. It's absurd. Acting like local LEO doesn't take federal dollars hand over fist is close to the most ignorant sht I've read on this site.

of course they accept federal dollars and always have. If the feds will forego the money, I'm damn sure the states would gladly tax for it and pay for their own. You're acting like tax dollars are these magical differing pots of money, which is stupid as hell. It's all coming from the people who pay taxes, a group with whom I'm sure you are unaffiliated but know how many racists it contains.

also, this doesn't prove anything. So they gave them money, that's awesome. That doesn't mean they spent it on hiring people.

Nice. I laughed.

Let's see the numbers of how many jobs they created or saved, versus the amount of money they received, not just some abstract number of dollars received. They could've spent all that on doughnuts for all I know.

BPV you are saying without federal dollars local leo wouldn't have to cut spending/jobs at all?

I am 100% certain that we do not want to see that list. It's going to be sickening and not going to help the money come back.

I don't have any idea. It likely depends upon state funds and each is different. I have no problem with them tightening their belts, just like I expect from everyone else. Unfortunately, this administration has gone the absolute opposite direction. Actual government staffing has skyrocketed and payroll increases have continued. It's pure stupidity.

Looks like we're on the same side on this one.

so chump, what happens when the money runs out? assuming the wondrous phenomenon of "saved jobs" is due to a one-time appropriation, when that money is gone, what then? government jobs are not self-sustaining.

Dude that was updated last on March 7 2009. That's over 2 years old. Also, that spread sheet just says how much they were allocating to each area. It doesn't show the results of what happened with the money.

Stop.

You asked me to prove that stimulus dollars reached local law enforcement and I have done so beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I'm not going on with this all day.

I have no idea what they'll do. I assume they'll get more federal grants like they always do.

so more tax dollars pissed away so some low-level county functionary can be paid to do a job that the private-sector could perform for half the price and 10 times the results

Exactly.

Like I said before, the LEOs could be cut by 75% and I wouldn't care one iota.

We are in agreement.

That there is no such thing as Fed funding of state and, to a much lesser extent, local agencies was never the actual issue.

That any given officer (original target OE) can be cited as an example of someone employed only because of Fed monies is, at it's very, very best, an example of wanton speculation.

Crying about any aspect of the "stimulus" on this board is hysterical considering the vast majority thought it an enormous waste of money to begin with regardless of allocation.

If you're going to make a point on the subject with any real traction to speak of address Fed funding of state and local agencies outside any Fed silliness like the "stimulus package". And in doing that make sure it's Fed funding on hiring/sustaining employees, not buying new trailers/tasers/etc.
