Who do think has had the most dominating single game peformances in Tennessee history (that you remember of course)?

Jamal Lewis vs. UGA in '97
Chuck Webb in the '90 Cotton Bowl

In my opinion the MOST outstanding single player performance to take over a game and be the single most factor was Hubert Simpson and 4 TD's against ND. Thats not to say he was our best back ever, or that this was the Vols biggest win. Im just saying this player by his efforts alone seemingly IMO destroyed ND.

Reggie White vs. LSU in '83.
Chuck Webb vs. Ole Miss in '89.

Though I know a lot of people don't like him, Kelley Washington had one hell of a game against LSU in 2001 (the first one). 11 receptions for 256 yards and a TD.

That's another good one. He was a one man show that day. No way we win that game without him.

Jay Graham, 1996 Citrus Bowl (1995 season)... not special numbers so much, but he by far outplayed Heisman winner Eddie George. :D

Jason is of course being sarcastic, but Arian Foster's Game Against Vanderbilt last year was AMAZING for a Freshman!

40 carries 223yds 2 TD's
4 Catches 45 yds

Stephens in 01 vs. UF was
19 carries 226 Yds 2 TD's
2 Catches 11 Yds

Also, how about Tee Martin vs. S. Carolina in 98. When he set the consecutive completions record.

Foster's was definitely a good one but you can't compare playing Vandy at home versus playing the Gators in the Swamp with a SECC and possible NC game birth on the line for the winner.

I wasn't trying to compare them.....I was just saying Foster's was a good performance, and was giving the stats for the aforementioned Stephens.

Oh do we have short memories. Riggs against a very good Auburn team.
If your team didn't win, you didn't dominate.

I thought Travis Henry had a heck of a game against Florida in 2000, 37 carries with no other offense to speak of.

I actually thought of Webb's and Thompson's performances against Mississippi St . . .but I think in that era EVERYBODY dominated Mississppi State. Heck, Bernard Dafney (rest his soul) even ripped off a 40 yard TD against them.

You didn't actually think I would miss a chance to extol the virtues of Chuck Webb, did you?

Chuck Webb was a great back, but the stat I like to look at is yds/carry, and I think Charlie Garner has a record that won't be broken any time soon, 7.3 yds/carry in 1993. Thats amazing.

The closest other back is James Stewart with 6.1 yds/carry in 94, but Garner is still 1.2 yds higher then anyone else.

Season Net Yardage
Rank Name Year Att. Yds. Avg.
1. Travis Stephens 2001 291 1464 5.0
2. Jay Graham 1995 272 1438 5.3
3. Jamal Lewis 1997 232 1364 5.9
4. Travis Henry 2000 253 1314 5.2

Wow, that is amazing. I didn't realize that. I would like to find who his offensive line was that year.

Impressive, but it was in only 159 carries. If he had done it with 200+ carries, then I would really be moved by it.
