Haven’t cared about the season since the show we put on the field in Florida. Something died inside of me that day. I don’t know how you “real” fans do it. I say that having watched this team for 24 or so of my 29 years so far on this planet. I am just so tired of putting my family events off, missing out in other things I could be doing to sit and be pissed at how we still look incompetent. I just can’t do it anymore. I will keep up with scores here and there, but I think I am done letting it run my Saturdays.

For many of us, thick callouses were formed during the Doody, Jokes and Prune years. While Florida was a disappointment, it's understandable considering the environment and our loss of leadership from last year. This week, with our fans at their backs, should give us an idea what this team is really made of.

What made the 2015 Oklahoma game so special? People talk about it all the time though I don’t really remember it cause it was 8 years ago and I’m still in my early 20’s

Crowd was electric, stadium was checkered, and we were wearing them out until we had a rain delay and a full half time. OK defense was supposed to be all of that and they were not, but Mayfield put on a show.

Just remember that Animal House is receding further and further into the past and less and less people will be familiar with it. It happens. Younger IT people now often do not pick up my Monty Python references. (And my Groucho Marx quotes usually result in vacant stares 😂)
Just channel your inner Black Knight and call it a draw. ;)

I've seen various suggestions across many threads: Dark Mode, orange and black checker, black out, black war paint for fans, sacrifice of yard bird on the 50 pregame.

Let's do it all, get pagan and weird with it. Traumatize the yard birds.

Remind them that Dr Bass buried dead people under the turf

If you didn't have a friend growing up like Bluto than you missed out on some good times. Looks like some people are more like the guy playing the guitar on the stairs in this thread!

Bluto

Interesting fact, the guy playing the guitar was Stephen Bishop. He was primarily a singer/songwriter who wrote and sang the Animal House theme, along with the theme to Tootsie and other 70s-80s soft rock stuff.

Apparently, Belushi was supposed to grab the guitar, tell Bishop to never sing again, and walk away. Him smashing it was improv, and explains why Bishop and the other actors look shocked. The 'sorry' was also improv.

OK - perhaps this is a joke I'm not getting? But if my 5th grade history class was accurate, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Please please tell me you are joking....
That comment tells me you've never seen Animal House.... :p

Why are some people assuming, and happy about 2 losses going into Georgia? If this team irons out the kinks and Milton plays confident, I dont see another guaranteed loss except MAYBE Georgia. Alabama isnt the same Alabama this year and A&M, Kentucky, and Mizzou are middle of the pack teams. The Florida game sucked, but I would much rather have that happen early in the year compared to late. It's easier to say the team got better as the season went on and voters tend to give more weight to games later in the year. This South Carolina game will be the season definer. Can this team play a complete game, can Milton play confident and hit the open guy? If Milton is on point this team CAN win out. I dont think it's going to happen and don't expect it to happen, but every team we play the rest of the way is beatable including Alabama and Georgia. If Tennessee can come out and put it on South Carolina, it's going to go a long way confidence wise for the players and will hopefully carry over the rest of the way. I'm not writing this team off completely because of the Florida game. They can play with and beat any team. We have talent everywhere, and I'm not betting against Huepel.
If we play as we are capable of playing we can win out. If we play like we have so for, I see multiple losses.

Baker Mayfield said it was the loudest, most difficult stadium atmosphere he had ever played in. Neyland was lit that day.

I have followed the Vols for 63 years, showed my Vol spirit in Alabama, Germany, Iowa, and Kentucky while in the Army. I have indoctrinated my grandchildren, who live out of state (currently Georgia). I wear orange more often than not.

Having said all of that, I feel your pain! Ever since Fulmers last few years, Tennessee has been a disappointment! I will continue to support the Vols but something inside me has changed. Battered Vol syndrome continues. We were teased last year which makes the loss to Florida, even worse. "Hope springs eternal".
