Utah State.

Why?

1. Under and Over - Utah State is considered a small pie with the media. Not much hype except local media...but coaches believe they are way better than most expect. If Utah State wins it will be considered an upset everywhere.

2. 2nd Seasons and 1st games - both coaches are in their second seasons. Take the talent away and put the X's and O's in place. Who has better preparation in their opener?

3. All Recruits will be watching - The only other game played is SMU and Baylor. Recruits won't be worrying about scheme, playcalling, etc... They also are predicting we will win. The way we win is the main factor here. We have to WIN BIG. Lose or close game (3-10) we lose recruits. We need to win by at least 14 points to gain recruits IMO.

4. No time to make adjustments with old players. Only admustments CBJ can take is with freshman or new players. Anybody else, he has time to figure out. If he throws in Peterman in the second half we BETTER be up by 21...not because Worley is struggling.

That's all I got...but I really think this is the biggest game of the year.

If we lose, TN and CBJ will most likely NOT make a bowl game, we will lose recruits, AND CBJ will have to shuffle his staff in order to keep his job for more years to follow.

The next one! We must play to win every game this year. Therefore, after we beat Utah State, the next game is the most important.

#3 is wrong. Recruits understand the process.

Recruits understand talent level too. What is the process to losing to Utah State?

A recruit might understand losing to an SEC caliber team but not a team you are suppose to win and win BIG.

They recruits don't live in a time where patience is needed. They have lived in instant gratification.

supposed to win "big" according to whom, some goofball on here? That hardly qualifies for experts or pressure to win. UT is not in any position yet to blow a competitive team out of the water and if recruits didn't understand that we wouldn't so many commitments yet or do you not remember the Fulmer years where early recruiting was non existent especially towards the end of his reign.

I think most importantly this is our most important season, and this game starts it.

Is this game the most important at this exact moment in time yes. Will it be Monday morning No.

I don't think anyone is disputing this is probably going to be a rough season 6-6, BUT this season is an indicator.

It is an indicator if the Brick foundation that is being built is going to support a Mansion or a Doublewide.

Penn State hasn't been to a bowl game in the last two years and still has the stink of a man who sodomized children over its program.

That hasn't hurt its recruiting, however, nor will a close win against Utah State hurt ours...

UF is the mot important game imo. Conference game, win and we're most likely 4-2, lose and we're 3-3 heading into a brutal stretch.

I honestly don't think this is the year we are going to get Florida. I don't see that happening until 2016.

I would love to eat my words though, as I HATE Florida MORE than I hate ALABAMA

Every win is big at this point, no doubt, but busting the UF's winning streak will be monumental. It will be huge as far as program, recruiting, and fan momentum. Can't wait.
Espn will call it a fluke.... like our USCe win last season or AU beating bubba.

Who says we are supposed to win big? Utah state has been a much more successful football program the last several years while UT has been in the basement of the SEC. I'm as big a UT fan as there is, but to expect us to blow out USU is a little unrealistic

Not worried about losing this game...USU will be overmatched in about every position but QB...If defense plays stout, it won't be close...too many playmakers on offense for USU to keep up with.

Very much concur.

Beat Florida and the momentum can carry us into the Ole Miss and Mizzou games with some confidence. Maybe even keep it real with Bama.

Not going to say we'll win any of those games. But beating Florida will help show the team anything is possible.

Vandy last year was the most important game so far in Butch ' s career. You could totally bounce back from USU with recruits and fans. It's important and would be helpful but the end of season games always count most and leave the longest lasting impression.

Cough KY cough
