I am sorry, but I just don't see Miller leaving. Assuming the above I have posted is accurate as far as his academic progress is concerned.

this will be his 4th year in school, is there something that leads you to believe his academics arent in good enough standing that he wouldnt graduate? if he graduates i say he will leave because he can honestly transfer to alot of good programs and will still have a degree from a good school. if he doesnt graduate this year then i agree it wouldnt make much sense for him to leave, i guess IMO it just depends on whether or not he is eligible to graduate. this being his 4th year in school, and him being a very intelligent young man, i would fully expect him being on track to graduate this summer.

No need to apologize. Seriously, I think you're right. I'd imagine Miller would want to stay put to finish his degree. Smart kid.

I know! That's the feeling I got.

I don't think Tennessee has a scholarship to give? That's the topic of this discussion. That someone probably has to be "let go" to get the PG we need.

And I don't see ANY of these players leaving.

yes someone has to be let go. the most likely candidate would be miller, its really very simple. if your miller tell me your response to this statement from ccm...

"dwight i have to be honest with you and i want to discuss a few things with you. i am very happy that you chose to come to the university of tennessee last year and you contributed in ways i can never thank you enough for. with that said, i dont see there being any minutes for you this upcoming season with what we have returning and coming in in the post. im going to suggest that you look to transfer to another school where you will be eligible to play immediately, and to a school in which you can walk into and start immediately. i will do everything i can in my power to find the best fit for you, and will assist you in anyway i can. thank you dwight."

how do you respond? no coach i wanna stay and ride the bench

"Coach, I heard this speech before. You know how much I value my education, here at TN. I love the fans here as well. I never knew I was going to land at TN, until you came along and recruited me. I can still see myself competing."

How does that work?

Someone's scholarship? If they GRADUATE in the summer? Why would a player do that?

by this summer i meant may when this years senior class usually graduates. he has been in college for 4 years and is an intelligent kid, i dont see why he wouldnt be on track to graduate this year. does that make sense?

Is he not a fifth year senior?

yes but he has already graduated, he graduated in 4 1/2 years i guess is what it technically was. so thats why im saying if he can do it im pretty confident that miller can do it as well. wish there was some sort of way that we could find out his academic standing.

I think I'm really confused. I don't know how student athletes, scholarships work...

Did Tatum Graduate in December of 2011? If he did, then why is he still on the team? Or does that NOT matter? I thought you have to be actively going to classes.

Also, in college, it's not like there is RUSH to graduate.

I think Miller has 1 more eligible season left to play (scholarship or not, right?)

Was John Fields on a scholarship his last year?

oh dear god...

yes tatum graduated in december of 11, you can play after you graduate if you still are eligible. he attends probably bs classes such as walking class, and dance class, yes those are real classes at UT.

actually you can graduate faster in college if you wanted to just like in hs you can graduate early but thats not even whats being addressed here.

miller played...1 season at pitt redshirted, then 2nd season at pitt played actually freshman year though, 3rd year in college he was a sophomore at juco school, 4th year in college is tennessee. most student graduate in 4 years of college that is usually the goal of college to graduate in 4 years, therefore he should be on track to graduate UNLESS there was a set back somewhere. you are allowed 4 years of PLAYING when you redshirt that doesnt use a year so he sitll had 4 more years after that so next year he would be a 5th year senior.

yes fields was on scholarship, im going to try and make this as simple as possible. fields graduated from school in 4 years, if you graduate in 4 years you are allowed to transfer to a school that offers a degree in which your current school doesnt. so say miller has graduated in 4 years if he wants to transfer to college A and they have a degree in 123 and UT doesnt he can transfer there without having to sit out for a year and can play immediately.

make sense?

Is Tatum paying for these BS classes?

Why would MILLER want to go through that? Tennessee is a BIG school. There are not many degrees that Tennessee doesn't offer.

But if you can still graduate and play ball, why can't Miller graduate in May and still play? He would have 1 year left, right?

how old are you? just curious

tatum isnt paying for anything he's on scholarship what are you talking about

miller i would think would like to play basketball and not ride the bench as that is all he has really done for 3 of his 4 years so far. any believe me there are plenty of degrees that tennessee doesnt offer that other schools do.

yes he can graduate and still have 1 year to play. if he does this he will still be on SCHOLARSHIP, therefore we dont get his scholarship. if he leaves tennessee and goes somewhere else to play we get his SCHOLARSHIP.

my goodness....

Even if he is on par to graduate in May, he still has the option of keeping his scholarship to play so I don't understand why that would matter.

Bottom line, he has to LEAVE Tennessee on his own terms.

Good luck!

no he does not what dont you understand here? Martin can tell him goodbye, easy way or the hard way. He can say please leave or get the hell out of here. Either way martin can get rid of him if he wants.

If Coaches can pull someone's scholarship then why don't they do that more often? Or tell them to leave?

They do it all the time what do you mean? By all the time i don't meant every school does it every year, but it happens a lot. Look at who we are talking about Dwight miller, Pitts coach Dixon pretty much asked him to transfer from there and he did. He's been down this road before he knows the drill.

Well, if we are complaining about our PG situation, why doesn't CCM just let one of our Freshman PG's go? Since we are probably going to use the scholarship for a PG.

That makes A LOT more sense to me. Whoever is asked to leave would have more time to play somewhere else.

Why does a lot of people think it's Miller to go then?

Because miller plays 0 and will be a senior, washpun has played some and is only a freshman. I'm fine with them both leaving.

It's unanimous I guess... Bye bye mr miller.

What about losing Hall.....I mean, if he went somewhere else........ :)

He looks pretty good some games, then looks like the worst player in D1 basketball (as Clay Travis says routinely). Sometimes, I agree with him (I can't believe I just wrote that). :eek:hmy:

That can be a slippery slope for future commits though.

Miller, Waspun, and possibly McRae will leave depending on McRae's performance the remainder of the season. Miller will get 0 playing time, Waspun has too much development needed to play point in the SEC and is likely to never provide much offense. McRae is a talented player who may simply just not fit this system well. I hope he stays and gets on board with what Martin wants from him.

+1

That's why I've been asking for McRae to get more minutes. Give him basically a one month tryout the remainder of the year to prove why he should or shouldnt be brought back on next year. Personally, I hope last game was a sign of things to come I like the kid.
