Let's take Top 25 teams into account only, mostly so I don't have to delve into my thoughts of Troy having a good chance to beat Clemson.

I don't think there's any extremely likely upsets (Baylor over #14 TCU could happen, but I highly doubt it), but I'm going with SMU over #8 A&M. I'm not sure it'll happen, but SMU has a higher boom/bust quotient than most of the other sacrificial lambs for Top 25 teams. If Kyle Padron can get in the groove early on, SMU can keep up with A&M and could eventually be in a position late to pull off the upset.

Anyone else think there could be a surprising Week 1 upset?

A&M wins that game easy. I don't like that pick, as far as an upset I'll take Northwestern over BC. Didn't SMU lose their coach?

Weak, no way that'd be an 'upset'

I'm going with Baylor beating TCU.

I think South Florida has a very legitimate chance against Notre Dame.

Also, I wouldn't sleep on East Carolina playing USCe in Charlotte. I don't think they can beat them, but I bet they keep it very close til at least the 4th Q.

ECU's defense is so bad that they'd have to score 50 to win.

Agree on USF possibly beating Notre Dame. I think it's somewhat of a statement game for ND to prove those who are playing the "it's Notre Dame, why the hype?" card. Expecting an ugly, low-scoring Irish victory (20-10 sounds right).

A&M vs. SMU is a real concern for me.

The Aggies have a history of playing down to the level of their non-conference competition. Further, June Jones has taken a moribund program and brought it to life. Finally, the off-the-field-hysteria created by the exit from the Big 12 may take their eyes off the matters at hand. My hope is that the Aggies can wear them down in the second half.

Regarding Baylor and TCU...to me the key will be Baylor's QB Robert Griffin. If TCU can neutralize him I think TCU wins easily.

It's been addressed that Sherman intends to run an overwhelming number of plays against SMU. I'm not sure what our average was last year, but we got to the line quicker than ever. Their defense will be gassed. I'm not concerned.

As for the frogs, they'll roll up the bears before the 2nd half starts. I expect a bunch of backups late in the game.

I really don't care if other SEC teams win, as long as we beat them when we play them, then we look all the better, and that's all that matters :)

USF over Notre Dame. I have a hard time calling Georgia over Boise an upset since both are top 20 teams and are playing a big nationally televised game on a neutral site. If Georgia wins, so be it, but I have a hard time calling it an upset.

CSS has said that Connor Shaw may start on Saturday, not because of Garcia's off-the-field transgressions, but because of their performance in fall camp. Wonderful. A QB battle.

Mr. Connor Shaw. Local kid from Flowery Branch. I stated before that it would not surprise me if Shaw took the job away from Garcia. Shaw may not be the most talented but the kid is a very smart player and is a competitor. I really liked him coming out of HS (I guess this is where I say no homo)
