Most shocking revelation from Harts press. Conf.

I would have fired hiim last year after UK, but after making the decision to stick with him this season, Hart handled this exceptionally well.

He didn't make us the laughing stock that Hamilton did with the way he handled Fulmer's firing.... that's a certainty!

The best thing Hart said to me was about previous head coaching experience. That eliminated Smart from the list. Smart may prove to be a great HC but UT can't afford OJT for a up and comer this time.

I think he meant he wasn't going to fire him if they had a chance at a bowl game. Meaning would've waited until after the bowl. That would've been terrible

He wouldn't have waited till after bowl, but after Ky game. He said himself late December would be too late too start looking for head coach.

I honestly do not think that Dave Hart wanted to fire Derek. If he had done anything at all to show a little promise for the future, I think Dave was going to give him one more year. If that was the case, then perhaps we should be happy that we bombed bad enough to get him on out of here.

Did I hear D. Hart say Dooley still had his job up until he lost the Vandy game?? Am I the only one thinking that if Dooley won out and took us to the toilet bowl it would have been a huge mistake to keep him?
I know Dooley is gone but it worries me for a future if Hart was still on board the Dooley train till this week??!!

Suggest totally freaking out and definitely worry 24 hours a day. It couldn't have been diplomacy during a difficult time or anything like that.

C'mon man it's a press conference, he has to be politically correct and not hurt anyone's feelings. Behind closed doors he was probably thinking about this day after last years Kentucky game.

I didn't particularly care for how he said Sal was 100% Derek's hire. I mean come on...they had to have talked about him. Hart could have told Derek, "Hey, I worked with Sal for three years at Bama, and he ain't the sharpest tool"

That is the way it is done. That does not mean that someone with Tennessee interests has not put out feelers for interest. Hart is going at this in the proper way. If people don't understand the proper way, they should not make miss-leading comments.

You know what that process you described is called? "Back-channelling". If Hart said he hadn't spoken with anyone, I'd assume that- as you put it- people with Tennessee interests have. But when he specifically says that he hasn't spoken to or back-channelled anyone, I am left to hope he is lying to us.

The good news is Dooley is gone and Sal is right behind him after the UK game. Throw in the offensive coordinator next week and I say we will have had a pretty successful week here cleaning out the outhouse.

Why do people hang on every word? It's hard to see clearly in the State of Confusion. Let the dust settle for crying out loud!!!!

besides dooley being fired. What stood out to me was he said him and cheeck are going to pour everything into football, even make the academic requirements easyer for the players, that will be huge when recurting.

I still cant get over the fact, that with all this talent on the roster, we still arent going to a bowl.. unbelievable..

There is talent, but no production, not with the game on the line anyway. Production (which is tangible) is more important than "talent", which is subjective. Our "talent" rarely produced anything. Other than losses.

Just my opinion i'm not sure Hart is our guy for the long term.If all he wants to do is be politically correct then bring back Doug he could piss you off in a heart beat but he was the real deal as a A.D.
