Most Underrated Vols Ever

IMO, it is Travis Stephens, he had like 1500 yards his senior year and was over looked for the heisman much like most Vols are(screw the voters). I know he didnt get it done in the NFL, but he showed the player he was that night in Gainsville, "how's it feel spurrier"? LOL

Are we forgetting Tee Martin? He did bring us our first national title in about 50 yrs. Well actually the defense won the title but he gets the credit. :rocks:

I think that by definition, once you have had a street named after you - you cannot be considered underrated.

according to the poll voters and ESPN I'd say the entire team this yr is the most underrated

Whoa, kiddiedoc. I posted Kelley Washington too.

I was only kidding, but everyone is entitled to their choice.
Right?

It's interesting to see the long list of Fullbacks in this post. I agree with everyone of them as a choice too. We didn't have that kind of player this year and it showed. Watch a replay of the Sugar Bowl against Virginia to see how important a fullback (Amsler) can be. All the one's listed (who can forget the 60 yard dump off to Mose that broke Florida' back - "in the downpour"...John Ward) made major contributions.

How about JJ McKlesky (sp?) Little guy that played his ass off in an outmanned secondary.

How about the man with the biggest head (physical size) I've ever seen - Shazzon Bradley? How about Zander?

Anderson had 15 receptions for 134 yards and 1 TD this season. He also had 2 rushes for 33 yards and another TD. However, his biggest impact has been in the blocking aspect of the game. Seems that the rushing production went way up this season after the addition of Anderson at fullback. Could be the first time in Tennessee history that the Vols have two 1000-yd rushers in one season.

I liked Troy Fleming... it just seemed like he wanted to be a tailback more and did not block like past Vol fullbacks.

I posted this person as my favorite as well because he was a "home town hero." I think Wille Gault from the yester years is underrated and seldom mentioned. He still holds all-time UT and 4th all-time SEC kick returns at 78 and yardage at 1854 from 1979-82. 1st all-time UT and SEC in return TD's at 4 and season return TD's at 3. He is tied for 1st all-time UT/SEC/NCAA for return yards per game at 100. {his company there is Pearless Price and Leonard Scott}. These records have stood for 22 years now. He never faded. He went on to a solid NFL career, holding at one time a Super Bowl receiving record. Don't know if it stands. He continues at the age of 43/44 to compete occasionally in age bracketed track events, movies, heavily involved in charity activities, has his own production company, etc. He was also a track legend while at UT. The main reason he came hear in the first place. You had to see him run live. He came out of the curve on the 2nd leg faster than anyone I've ever seen.

Didn't know how to tag the link, but a good site for individual game and career UT records.

I agree 100% about Becksvort. He's as close as we've ever had to an automatic kicker, with Hall close behind him. Becksvort seemed to always make the clutch kicks.

What about Jonathon Brown? He must have had a QB sack in every game he played (seems like it anyways).
