Move Croom to TE

Malone hasn't even practiced at UT yet. I understand the hype, but give it a little while before wanting to move Croom to TE.

Croom showed big improvement this year IMO. Another off season at running routes, he may surprise folks.

This is one I have been saying since the offseason last year. That was the plan with Chaney. Jason was bulking up to over 230 lbs. Then this staff took over and felt they needed him at WR. with Malone and Pearson there is no doubt this needs to happen now. With North, Malone, Pearson, Pig and Croom - unstoppable.

Croom and Helm both at TE with North, Malone, Pearson, and Pig as our main receivers. Talk about weapons

If Croom can gain some muscle and learn to block off the line I'm all for it. Wolfe is going to be my player in this class, other then Hurd, who I think will make an instant impact as a freshman. We need someone who can block off the line in the TE position. Croom could line up as a slot TE though, and if he learns to block he could be a huge upgrade as a slot TE blocker for us in terms of running the football out of the spread.

I think that in the long run as Croom grows into his body its the best position for him, we are so weak at the TE position he would be a awesome addition. I guess we will see as the Strength and conditioning ends up next spring. I look at him as a Hernandez type of talent...Sorry I know its a bad comparison. The NFL would have this kid a 1 rounder if he moves.

This would help him and the team. He has a better shot at the NFL at TE imo. Also would be a matchup nightmare.

If this doesn't happen Croom will more than likely get buried on the WR depth chart. Could be an All SEC maybe All American type difference maker at the TE position

Neiko Creamer could be a TE candidate also. May need a year in the system to learn the position, but he has the body type and athletic ability for it.

This style of offense really needs a TE that can block as much as catch. You want a bulldozer with soft hands who doesn't steal computers.

not sold on Pig. Very short, not a great play maker.

How about North and Malone on the outside and:

Slot: Pearson, Wharton, & Berry

With this lineup. move pig to running back for 3rd and long.

I like the incoming TE's as well. I like Croom at WR. He has elevated his play. Wish him a speedy recovery after his surgery too!

Maybe Jason can play QB? Could only imagine defenders trying to tackle someone of his size running the read option. I'm reaching of course. But it's fun conjecture

Freshmen receivers rarely come in and become game changers in their first year. The good ones will show flashes of their ability but almost all of them struggle with consistency, route running, and blocking.

North should help take some pressure off of Malone and the others. I am a big fan of moving Croom to TE but I'm afraid that our other WRs might be too young next season to move him.
