(2003) Cheaper by the Dozen
9/10
An entertaining family comedy movie set in Illinois.
A dozen kids are not normal for 1 family so the movie gives a strong explanation of why Kate Baker decided to have a dozen kids. The movie also provides an understandable explanation of why Tom doesn't use an easy solution for a challenging flaw so it removes an easy plot hole.
The movie also provides an understandable reason why Charlie is angry with his dad for the move so it's not just terrible written drama with no understandable reason. The movie does a great job of showing the challenge of 2 parents raising a family, and also both have careers.
Anything that should have a reason does include why Tom doesn't use an easy obvious solution.
I did enjoy seeing that Charlie has a Blackhawks clock in his room.
The movie makes Charlie, and the other 11 kids distinguishable. Also, all of them are the right age to be believable visibly as kids in elementary school, Charlie is most likely a Senior in High School and Lorraine that is in High School. Also Nora is 22, and visibly she does look like she is in her early twenties.
The movie does give more information about how successful was Kate's non-fiction book Cheaper by the Dozen, and issues get resolved.
The movie has great messages, comedy that succeeds at being funny, distinguishable likable flawed protagonist, memorable lines, good dialogue, drama, well done comedy, multiple locations, the Life is a highway song used perfectly during the visible moving scene, 2 parents that both have achievable career goals, a dramatic climax with stakes, and an entertaining happy ending.
This movie is using 2 WB stars because Jared Padalecki plays a jerk bully character that taunts Charlie. Tom Welling did play Clark Kent-Superman in the DC Comics Drama tv show Smallville set in a Superman universe, and Jared Padalecki as Dean in Gilmore Girls, also Sam Winchester in the great Horror Drama Action tv show Supernatural.
Kate is promoting her book Cheaper by the Dozen which has to be promoted on a book tour or no book deal so it's not unbelievable that she has to be away from her family for a stated period of time since she is given the information for how long is the Cheaper by the Dozen book promo tour.
The movie gives a realistic explanation of how Kate met Tom, and no mention of love at first sight or any other nonsensical romance cliche so most likely the writer wanted to keep this movie set in a realistic world.
(2023) Orson Fortune
10/10
A highly entertaining great Guy Ritchie Action movie about a badass Spy Orson (Jason Statham) and his crew that has to stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology. The movie does a good job at giving the information that Orson and his brigade need to find out who exactly is Greg Simmonds going to sell the deadly new weapons technology which is a mystery they need to solve.
All the protagonists get a chance to shine, and each of them is distinguishable. Orson is shown to be a badass spy with a variety of skills. While he does have an exciting life and enjoys his adventurous job, he still wants to relax on a vacation which makes him very relatable.
While this is not an original premise because it's a familiar style story in the Action genre, however, it's still a movie that shows Hollywood can create an original movie with new movie characters since this is not an adaptation of a Play, comic book, book, or any other fictional media.
The movie has suspense, drama, a variety of action scenes, explosions, an original soundtrack with music that fits the scenes, distinguishable likable protagonists, entertaining twists, a well-done mystery, good dialogue, memorable lines, entertaining 1 liners, a well-done twist, entertaining antagonists, an amazing chase scene with a Red Mustang that has an impressive advantage which is stated by 1 character, a variety of locations, a high stakes climax with a high amount of action, and an open ending that satisfied me.
The great-looking Red Mustang with thick white stripes gets shown off in an action scene which I enjoyed.
The movie gives enough information that a twist is foreseeable so it's well done. I do enjoy this action movie is using the realistic mortality rules because characters won't die unless shot in fatal areas, physical fights are messy, and characters will not be able to recover quickly if shot in non-fatal areas.
Greg Simmonds like Hans Gruber is an entertaining charismatic character, and Hugh Grant has fun playing a terrifying character that doesn't have an issue getting his hands dirty.
Anything that should be explained does get explained, characters consistently act realistic including with the known information that the protagonists need to prevent the antagonists from acquiring the deadly new weapons.
