I'm looking forward to this game. We had an amazing outing at Florida and slammed Arkansas at home. I'd imagine that this team's confidence is at an all time high right now and it's either win and move on or lose and pack it up for next season. I think any loses at this point puts us out of the NCAA conversation.

In reality, we should blow Bama away. They are a train wreck that's happening right before our eyes. I have seen nothing showing that Green is going to play and Releford hurt his ankle, returned to the game, but he's on crutches now so I wouldn't think he's going to be 100% Saturday. We can match Bama's defensive intensity and our offense is clicking so well that we should be able to shut the crowd up to relax the guys.

Anthony Grant after losing to Florida
"Obviously, we have to get a lot better as a team and understand that we've got Tennessee coming in here on Saturday. It will be another tough, challenging SEC game. Tennessee isn't walking in here saying `we don't have to give as good of an effort now' because of this. We have to understand that it's night after night after night here in the SEC. If we don't come mentally and physically ready for that, then it is going to be tough for us to get wins."

If Florida can hold Bama to 28% shooting and turn them over 18 times, there's no reason Tennessee can't do it. And if Young can score 19 in the paint, Maymon should drop 25 on these guys. I feel really good and lucky that we have the chance to kick a guy when he's down and that's exactly what Bama is right now.

Also, I really hope Martin takes a page from Donovon on how to play Bama without Green. He zoned 'em pretty much the whole half and it worked like a charm. Bama don't have the shooters to get out of that situation and without Green, they are extra screwed because he gives them the chance to attack the zone and a big man to kick back out with his passing abilities. I would not be shocked if Martin didn't try and push the tempo on these guys and really really attack the paint.

What do you bet the suspensions will be lifted in time for the game?

I agree. Grant's not stupid and without Green, they have no chance. But with Releford getting hurt and them needing younger players to step up, I just dont see it getting better for 'em.

Saw this on Tigerdroppings.com, obviously take it for what it is worth.

"I doubt any of this comes as a shock.

Tony Mitchell: simply being a lazy, whiny a-hole. Like Grant said it was "an accumulation of things" with the tipping point being during the Ole Miss game when he *****ed out a bunch of trainers and doctors in the locker room and then immediately left the locker room right after the win before the post game speech by Grant. As of right now, he is sort of like Dyer was at Auburn: not completely off the team but extremely unlikely to return without a huge attitude correction.

Green, Releford and Steele: All 3 failed a drug test. It was the first failed test for Releford and Steele so they sat one game. It was not Green's first, therefore the more lengthy suspension. No clear word on when he will be back, but he is not in the same dog house as Mitchell."

No you don't. You want to get the 3rd or 2nd spot and match up with FL in the semi. The 4th and you are probably going home on Sat.

+1!. A 4th place finish will send us home after 1 win because we would be playing Kentucky. I would guess if we get a bye, we'll get bumped up to 2nd or 3rd (depending on what Vandy does the rest of the season) because I see us finishing with the same record as Florida and getting the nod because they couldn't kick it with the Vols

If our guards keep playing like they did I think we have a good shot to win out. Hopefully Tatum can build on a strong game on both sides of the ball. Golden holds the key to winning the games, he's played great as of late. Maybe if Kentucky gets upset in sec tourney we could win it. Were as hot as anyone in the sec right now. Hopefully we get a seed that puts us in favorable match ups

Vandy goes to Rupp = loss
Vandy goes to UT = loss
Vandy has 6 losses then and will be 4th in SEC.
It doesn't really matter between 2nd or 3rd between us and FL.

I agree with the OP, this game will decide our fate. I think we need to win every game but Vandy and get a win in the SEC tournament to get to the big dance. Lets hope our boys stay focused on the road and beat Bama on Saturday. We will not catch Florida for the 2nd spot in the SEC tournament, it would great to get 4th for the first round bye.

I don't see Florida beating Vandy @ Memorial or Kentucky @ Rupp. That puts them even with us.

I don't think UT has to pack it up if they lose on Sat. They'll still make the NIT. I know it is a let down after 6 straight NCAA bids but this team needs to keep playing. They are getting better each game out. Winning a few games in the NIT wouldn't be the worst thing....such as losing by 30 to Michigan in the NCAA last year.

With that said, I think UT takes care of business on Sat. afternoon.

If we lose on Saturday, we would have to win out and then get a couple w's in the tourney. We do that, we're still in, but it would be very, very tough.

I'm not sure we want that bye. It might actually benefit us to have a weak 1st round opponent so that we could hopefully add another +1 to the win column. I could be wrong though. It'd be hard to turn down moving up in the SEC ranks just so that we could get an extra game in. Sounds counterintuitive anyway.

If we were not to get a first round bye, then that means we lost one or two, so really I think we'd have equal wins regardless. I think the bye benefits us from a perception standpoint because obviously, a 3/4 seed looks better than a 5/6.

It would be nice to win out, not get a bye, and do work in the tournament but when you look at the overall picture, that is for sure not the best case scenario as far as winning the tournament and matchups. We want to play Kentucky at the latest round possible. To do that, I think this

Undefeated over 6 games (a 2 or 3 seed)
Dropping a game (more than likely a 4 seed still, as long as its to Vandy)
If we lose more than that than we shouldn't even care what seed we get because it wouldn't even matter at that point.

A 2 or 3 seed would mean Kentucky in the Championship
A 4 or 5 seed means a Semi Final game against Kentucky
A 6 or 7 seed would see Kentucky in the championship but we would have to lose 2 of the 6 games and a busted bubble chance.
A 8 or 9 seed means a 2nd round matchup against Kentucky (which better not happen lol)
Any other seed means we are worse than South Carolina, Georgia, or Auburn.

I have no idea how/why everyone is chalking Vandy up as an easy win. They absolutely demolished UT in the last meeting, and while it was at Memorial, it still was not close.

Ive kind of wondered the same thing. I see it being the hardest of all the remaining games.

I think we'll handle Vandy. Defense has improved and we were never in that game to began with. If we stumble along the way, I think it's LSU.

Id like to see us get the 4th spot to get the 1st round bye.

A second or third seed with the second seed being the path of least resistance.

2 seed equals playing 7, 3, 1
3 seed equals playing 6, 2, 1

4 seed equals playing 5, 1, 2

so which seed do you want.....not a 4......

..1st......... 2nd .........3rd ..........4th

9 vs 8.......8 vs 1.....1 vs 4
12 vs 5.....5 vs 4

..............................................1 vs 2

11 vs 6......6 vs 3.....2 vs 3
10 vs 7......7 vs 2
