It's not yet time for payout. The bet was whether or not Mitchell would be on LSU's roster next season....so, technically, the $500 wouldn't be due until LSU starts the 2009-2010 season. If Mitchell gets dismissed, joins a wacko religious cult, or falls down an elevator shaft, VK owes Hat 50 Alex Hamiltons.

That's how you can tell hat isn't hurting for money. He hasn't even technically lost yet, and he is still willing to pay up.

If any of those, or another equally bizarre scenario, takes Mitchell off the LSU roster prior to the start of the season, the bet is a wash. The spirit of the bet wouldn't make it fair for me to collect on that. If Benetton Traveiso or someone offers him a bunch of money and he rethinks his decision, yes. If something that would fall into An Act Of God clause in an insurance policy happens, no.

That thread is funny as heck - especially knowing the outcome. VKA is calm and matter-of-fact while Hat is ranting and raving. Classic.

With the ACT thing, I was quite a douchebag to be honest. Hat and I had an argument over Marvin Williams and Damon Jones that I liked better. But hey, I'll take the compliment.

I thought about that and, being a lawyer, I'm sure hat did too. It's exactly right and I would be perfectly willing to pay in that situation. He's evidently chosen to call it a wash, though, which is more than fine by me.

I guess the super high levels of doucheness in the thread made your lower level undetectable to my sensors.

Regardless of the two participants, it's always interesting when a bet is offered, accepted, and then called on an internet message board.

And hat (or at least my impression of him) is rather calm and matter-of-fact most of the time -- he just matter-of-factly delivers some of the coldest insults I have seen in my life.

You indicated you "thought" you wouldn't get paid if you won the wager. Anyone who has ever remotely paid attention around here knows I'm quite ready, willing, and able to back up any promise or wager I make on this board, regardless if it enures to my benefit or my detriment.

As posted by hat !

Personally I think he'll pay up .

Paid in full, if anyone was wondering.
Wasn't wondering as I knew he would pay up. But thanks for clearing up the veracity of hat for those that doubted he would follow through. Would you buy me a t shirt?
