'20 MS ATH Jimmy Holiday (UT SIGNEE)

Watched his highlights. Holy speed! I hope he stays at QB, this guy would be a nightmare for defenses to defend.
me too, just thought we'd move him to wr til i watched his film, he would be hell to defend on wildcat packages, if he lined up behind bailey in a one back set, toss sweep right with an RPO you'd be in trouble as a Def coordinator

Pruitt made a comment today about not lying to kids about position. He said you bring them in and let them play where they want to play. This kid will be at QB unless he asks to be moved elsewhere, or there are injuries. Same with Whitehead at running back.

Pruitt has more tact then people may realize. He talked to Alontae Taylor when he first arrived about playing CB. Alontae wanted to play WR. So he let him...BUT. Taylor came to realize it was a log jam at WR.

And CB needed immediate help. So he made the move. Pruitt knew this would happen. Yet he let Alontae come to that conclusion on his own. Same thing for Bryce Thompson. Same thing will happen for Holiday probably. Whitehead...may stick at RB though. Still need a power runner and Hodge is the only other guy.

Some of his runs are crazy. Once he decides to run, he is a missile. Kyler Murray speed. If we can develop him as a passer, he will be an absolute nightmare.

thats key when trying to convince someone, let them think it was their idea/decision. if he ends up at slot or some such, I'm totally ok with that. just get the ball in Calloway, Hyatt, Holiday's hands... and Darnell Washington's too of course

Your comment is idiotic. Of course I don't know more than them. I'm saying they won't play him at QB because, unlike some on this thread, they can recognize when a kid isn't a D1 passer. Watch his film.

Dude. Stop being a moron. JG's HS video is still available. Compare his arm strength to that of this kid.... and JG has average to above average arm strength for a UT or SEC QB.

You think you're smart hiding behind parsed stats and "experts" but you are really pretty transparent.

If I'm wrong... no one will be happier than me. All I want is for UT to have great players coached by great coaches. Don't care what they look like or where they come from. I'm a Vol fan. You... seem to view Vols through a certain "lens".

Will be a reviver by the end of his freshman year. Doesn’t have the arm strength for an SEC QB. But he’s going to be great in the slot.

"A flip of speedy quarterback Jimmy Holliday, who went to Tennessee from TCU. "

3-star athlete Jimmy Holiday flips commitment from TCU to Tennessee football

"Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney pulled out a lengthy proposal detailing their plans for Holiday.

The proposal, about 18 pages or so, had a six-month calendar with precise times and dates of what he would be doing, April Holiday said. It had a list of all the quarterbacks they'd coach. So many schools had recruited their son as an athlete, but Tennessee made it clear they wanted him to play quarterback in Knoxville.

"We were glowing," Holiday's father said. "That let me know they truly did their homework on Jimmy as a player. They noticed his IQ as a quarterback and that he could play quarterback and that it's more than just about his speed."

You guys should call the coaches up and let them know he can't throw and won't play qb.
It seems like Chaney and the player have discussed other plans. Hey you guys know more about who can play qb and what Chaney needs at qb than he does I guess. You should tweet them and let them know he has no chance at playing qb and has a weak arm.

We all know all weak-armed former high school qbs they plan on moving get detailed 18 page reports for a six month qb development plan and are told they will be qbs and qbs only. Happens all the time.

He also said this kid is gonna be a reciever.

IMHO, I think he would need to fix his throwing mechanics. It's a little funky to me but if he gets the development he needs, I would love to see a UT QB that runs a 4.3-4.4

I know he's been compared to Cobb but that would actually be kind of a cool role. Lots of cool Wildcat packages and some speed on the edge.

Recruiting.
Yea because we have seen detailed 18 page proposals with six month plans broken down to the day for his qb development for players they have no intention of playing at qb. We have also seen coaches talk with qbs they plan on moving about how the future of the qb position is players like them.

Definitely a great way to build credibility with recruits and their parents.

Lot of words...but yeah. Wonder how many pages Bailey warranted? Also find your abandonment of your usual methodology interesting. If “all the experts” favor the 4 star who attended all the camps, Holiday should be regarded as a much faster JT Shrout who will never take meaningful snaps at UT...K-Town 101. 😉

The higher rated one? Always go with them...amirite? This is Jauan Jennings redeaux.
Who was discussing going with one or the other? I know you get off on soft trolling and debating.

This aint that chief.

The question was if he was a qb. He is.

For now. So was Jauan Jennings. I’m sure your participation was purely academic...you’ve never been known to argue. 😉

No one thought JJ was going to be a qb. The debate was saftey or wr.
So . . . Still not seeing your point. If you want to discuss the actual debate I was having then great.

I don’t care what the coaches told him. When he’s sitting in a room behind several other QBs not seeing the field he will want to change. Same thing happened with Jennings. Competitors want to be on the field. Not all can change positions and get in the field early but he can.

He said Jimmy Callaway was. Pretty sure he said Holiday was a QB.
Another thing I don't understand, is he talked about having 5 QBs competing.

I count 6. JG, Hill, Maurer, Holiday, Bailey, Shrout.

Did someone leave? Is he not counting Hill?

So that would be a personal decision, not a coaches..

Negative! One of our advantages over Ohio State in Jennings recruitment was that he was being recruited as a QB...one of 3 in that class alongside Dormady and Sheriron Jones. Now everybody KNEW he would end up in another position...exactly like now. Yeah he’s being recruited as a QB...and will end up playing another position.
