'24 MS RB Daniel Hill

Callahan made it sound like we’re still in this, on today’s 247 pod. Mentions him at the very end. Basically that he figured he was Alabama bound but it keeps dragging on so worth monitoring. TIFWIW
Translation.

The negotiations are one sided, waiting on an offer that will never come.

You wait too long, Bama moves on. Push too hard, TN moves on.

Hill will make a jump to the portal after Little Nicky refuses to share his Geritol…

We only signed 1 RB in this class, Lewis. Hill would be welcomed big time.
i would think a older transfer guy would be better suited. get some age to go with all the youth.

because we also have Bishop and Keith. that would be 5 RBs in 2 to take Hill.

and I would still have DL, OL, and CB as higher needs.

That’s true, but Sampson will be a junior next year, Seldon will be a sophomore, Lewis a freshman. Do you really think Keith or Bishop will be vying for #2 or #3 spot, or should be, in ‘25? In 2025 a backfield with Seldon Lewis and Hill is likely better than Seldon Lewis and either Keith/Bishop. Just my opinion

Sampson is likely to still be here in 2025 unless he has a monster '24 season and vastly improves his pass protection.

That’s fair. Again though, like with the quarterback room, it’s better to have a bunch of studs and see where how it hashes out, then be afraid of someone transferring because a better player is brought in. If we want to be as good as Bama or UGA we need to recruit like them too. I hate them, but they’ve obviously been doing something right

The Amari Jefferson thread is full of "HE DIDNT WANNA GO HERE, PASS" people.

Yeah. He didn't wanna go here because bama won 6 national championships in sabans 17 years. That means he should be an auto-take. If I could trade every UT recruiting class for every bama class those 17 years, I'd take it in a cocaine heartbeat. They're clearly doing something exceptional with their recruiting

we not going after any RBs in '25 that would be a better candidate than Bishop or Keith? I would much prefer to keep rolling with a new recruit each year, maybe take a second or a grad transfer every once and a while for Small type production/role. I could see a Bishop or Keith working themselves into Small's role. releasable, good pass protection, pick up the tough/ugly yardds.

Are you asking us about the class of 25 or telling us? You put a question mark but left out the important verb.

If we're not going after anyone in 25 better than bishop or Keith (or hill), then we absolutely need to go after hill. Recruiting is now wildly variable on a year to year basis. Better to get him now and see what we can do.

I’m not one to pass on talent even if they decided not to come here the first time offered. I think you improve your roster any way you can. That said I think you look to the trenches first and foremost to add to your roster. Teams like Bama and Georgia are just a lot better than everyone in those positions. Certainly wouldn’t be opposed to a RB or WR but if you look at why we’re losing it’s usually bc of the LOS players. Those are the positions I would look to.

Yeah. He didn't wanna go here because ...
You misspelled "Saban lied to his face." 😂 You don't have to stan for the biggest cheater in the history of football over here.

Which is not to say the "pass" crowd has any sense. Kid was free to do what he wanted.

RB commit Justin Baker is certainly better than Bishop, probably better than Keith (although very different type of backs).

I'm not against taking Hill.

Not really "stan"-ing for him. Just stating facts. The guy clearly knew what he was doing at least in some facets of the game
