'26 MS WR Tristen Keys (lsu commit)

Sampson was a huge steal. But that was the year after we beat down LSU in the own stadium iirc. So was Jordan Matthews… until he wasn’t.
Sampson played in the Bayou Beatdown. Missed a huge block that about got Hooker killed. LSU missed on Sampson probably cause EdO was more interested in bagging divorcees than recruiting.

solid is a term for slightly above average. I would say serviceable.
Serviceable? I mean we’ve been towards the top of the country and the conference in rushing several years since he got here. He hasn’t recruited worth a damn but performance has been pretty good. Our pass protection though hasn’t been great for Nico. Still Elarbee is far, far better than anything Pope has put on field so far.

Sampson was a freshman when we beat down LSU. He played some that game. Jordan Matthews was at that game as a recruit/spectator though.
That's right, thanks. I remember now. And now that you mention it, but I don't want to talk about that block. I think we put up a recruiting billboard in Baton Rouge that year. 😂

In the past few years, there are 3 programs that are WR factories for the NFL. LSU, Alabama, and Ohio State. If you’re a big time WR prospect is easy to see why you would be intrigued by those 3.

Staff will work to get a visit during the season it’s not over yet
That's fine and I agree. I still can't get past how many times we do everything right, supposed leaders, And we lose more than we should on these elite, 5* plus kids.

Just frustrating. I really don't think we're bad at recruiting. But something is missing when we're getting deep on some of these kids... And boom, out of nowhere they go some place else.

At the end of the day I do think we're doing a good job overall.

But we do need to stack more of these kinds of players to get past our current ceiling.

This one is far from over… we gotta show it on the field tho but I think Nico is ready to take that next step… last year was very valuable for him and he was able to get to the playoffs as a freshman first year starter… Nico was very close to being great last year he had some unlucky breaks mid way through the season with plays called back, drops, fumbles… if the game slows down for him just a little bit more I think he is going to have an explosive year.
