Been a long time coming for MJ! I remember that 98 game, I came back for it and watching him plant that flag was a kick to the groin!

"How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?... Yeah... Coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we would've been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind."

Graduated from MJ in '98. I went to every playoff game that year. Gallatin game rocked. Munford game was a good game, but we obviously came up short. Field goals.

Won @ Hendersonville 41-10 tonight to move to 9-0. They will finish up the regular season next weekend at home against 2-6 Wilson Central.

Can anyone tell me if Mt. Juliet has played a decent opponent this year besides Gallatin? Gallatin was a good win, but I'd like to see how MJ would fair against Siegel, Riverdale, Smyrna, 7-AAA. Not bashing, but not sure if they're as good as everyone else.

I played for Perry for one year at Portland, (his first , my last) He's a hard nosed coach and has won everywhere he has been, I knew MJ was going to be much better when he decided to go there. Parents start getting upset because he demands so much from the players, apparently they dont know what it takes to win. They got mad at Westmoreland, Portland, and i'm sure they will in MJ too. Until then, you will keep winning with him as your coach.

Gallatin was their biggest win for sure, but they have played a decent schedule. No, they haven't played Riverdale (who is very good) or any of the other Murfreesboro teams, but they will match up well with any of them, due to a no-nonsense Wing T offense and a stingy defense. They don't turn the ball over and they cause plenty of them. Not saying this team will win state, but they have a good shot at it.

Ensworth moves up to No. 2 in Midstate poll - The Tennessean & HighSchoolSports.net

They destroyed a fairly good Cookeville team 52-0 in Cookeville which rarely happens to the Cavaliers..If you look at MJ's schedule you'll notice nobody has really been able to keep it close..

And for the Henry County fan, they are 5A and MJ is 6A..I've seen them both play and IMO MJ would win in a fairly close game...They both are legitimate state championship contenders in their respective classifications...

GO BEARS from a 72 grad We've had pretty good teams over the years but this senior laden team has a real chance to win it all. The thing is all the teams we will play from here on have been there year after year and expect to win. I think talent wise MJ can play with anybody They haven't had to play a close game in a while I hope they won't have to.

Just got back from the Oakland game and it was a good one. The Bears were down 14 to 7 at the half as Oakland gave them their biggest challenge yet.

Oakland's last TD was with about 0:20 left in the game and they had their extra point attempt blocked.

The following onside kick attempt sailed out of bounds and the Bears took the victory formation.

Mt. Juliet - 35
Oakland - 27

There were more people at the Gallatin game earlier this season. Oakland brought a mid size group of fans with them.

This game was a nail biter that came down to the final play.

MJ only stopped Siegel when they forced turnovers which I believe was three times, each as a fumble. If MJ didn't force those fumbles then Siegel would have scored on each of those drives probably.

However Mt. Juliet did stop them when it absolutely mattered; from the one yard line twice in a row. On the final play Siegel attempted a QB sneak with a RB and he was stuffed.

Mt. Juliet fans and players alike both erupted after the second and final goal line stand. At the same time there were numerous Siegel players lying face down on the field emotionally crushed.

Very emotional game for both teams.

Mt. Juliet - 31
Siegel - 27

Injury note: MJ lost a Sophomore LB for the rest of the playoffs due to an ankle injury. He started in most of their games this season.

Also, a ref had his head busted open during Mt. Juliet's opening drive as he was hit on the sideline during a block or tackle. The game was stopped for about 10 to 15 minutes as they rendered first aid.

Beat Brentwood last night and host Whitehaven next Fri. First time since 97 they have made a semi-final. Let's go bears! If they should win they will take on the winner of Maryville/Riverdale

anybody seen or know anything about Whitehaven? Hoping MJ can get to finals and play Riverdale. That would be great for midstate football

With Riverdale losing 2000 yards of offense last week, I don't see your midstate final happening barring a miracle

Your senior year, my junior year. Lost to Munford 10-9 at home. What a heartbreaker. I still get indigestion with the thoughts of that game because we could have [really should have] won it... :cray:

Here's to beating Whitehaven.... GO BEARS!!!  :dance2: :clapping: :good!: :pepper: :machgun: :gun:
