MTV's "The Challenge" Thread

There’s a lot of backlash on the Twitter machine about how easy the final was. I don’t think that is a big deal.

Back in the day it never used to be the crazy intense finals we’ve kind of gotten used to in the past - idk 8 or so years. Hell, I want to say early on they were only one day long - not two. So I don’t mind that it was not mini Navy SEAL Hell Week final.

I do think it should’ve included an eating checkpoint.

But all in all I thought it was the most competitive, closest final I think I’ve ever seen.

One last thing about the final - that rock they had to climb to get the number - might’ve been tricky camera work - but that looked dangerous as ffffffff. Especially if all three teams had tried to climb at once.

I enjoyed it. I also felt the final was kinda easy, I like seeing them get broken at the end. Glad CT won of course. Really enjoyed the season, it pulled back from being drama focused like the last couple prior seasons and that really really helped.

If they have everyone being individuals then there is just not going to be that much of a physical strength aspect in the finals. Puts the girls at too much of a disadvantage. That’s why the past few finals have been mostly running and puzzles.

Nobody mentioning how Devin just memorized all those numbers by himself. That was cool even though he came in last.

Nelly is the best. “What if we just make a triangle? YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT COULD
WORK”

I hate the eating. I'd be fine if they never do it again. They'll just bring it back when Fessy's in a final.

I’m gonna have to find a way to watch All Stars.

After the first episode season 1 I was like well this will suck, but it's been really good. It's like the older shows, not a ton of drama and solid comps. Sidenote: Brad has eaten all of the steroids this year. Lol

The final was fine, I just wish it was timed or something, of course they janky that too.

Say CT doesn't return, its Fessys to lose right, maybe Pirate Jordan if he makes it? Funny thing is if Devin stopped smoking, drank less, ran consistently and got his cardio up I think he would be my favorite to win. If he could just keep pace in the running he would smash everyone in checkpoints, and probably win comfortably. In a non CT season.

If the girls are competing against the girls, how is it a disadvantage? I dont think it should be insanely physical strength, but should be a combo of everything. Puzzle, run, stop, swim, run, puzzle, stop, run, swim, puzzle, stop, run, memory, run. Is kind of lame.

I agree but if it is told that they are all playing as individuals at the beginning then it is hard to have much strength checkpoints IMO.

True, but 1 strength based would work to break the monotony. I know they carried a missile, but Nany and Kaycee were just running under it with a hand on it. Lol Or even better have some skill based checkpoints like on both of the WOWs.

Do you all think the others would have shared the money? I think Kyle would have kept it and used the baby as the reason. Tori would have fake argued with Kyle then kept it. Then spent all of next year saying she wanted to share, and it was all Kyle's doing. I do think they would have kicked Devin some on the side though.

I think Devin is smart enough to look at it as an investment for future alliances, but would have only given 50k to both teams. Emy would have agreed with whatever Devin said, then immediately given CT 425k of her remaining 450k.

I think everybody would've shared something just because they don't want the Bananas/Ashley treatment.

Supposedly gets 100k to show, then after 3 episodes gets paid per episode, plus a finals bonus, with a 90% chance of winning. Lol

I always wondered how they got paid. And it explains how some people play safe just to stick around for longer as opposed to playing to actually win.

Yeah, explains the excitement of making a final with no chance at winning too...Nany lol Kam claimed her and Leroy got 100k just to show up their last season. I also saw that Anessa and Nany gets 70-75k to show up. Smh lol I think they are basically paid for seasons on the show+ fan interest good and bad.

40 minutes and every BB player cried, bunch of emotional weirdos.

Kam and Leroy are having one of those weird miniature human things.

Sidenote: Cohutta is still one of the most likeable people in Challenge history, and Nehemiah is still weird as ****. Jodi is 4 for 6 in dailys, and 1 loss was as a team where she was the best player. Get her on the main show. Lol

Flash back…. FRESH MEAT is on Netflix. Each episode is 15 minutes long. 😂

Everyone looks so young. I barely remember this season so I’m gonna love this

edit: I almost forgot his douchey Danny Jamison was in his hats

Forgot how attractive I thought Melinda was.

TJ is so unsophisticated.

Kinda sad seeing Diem. Forgot her and Derrick had a fling before she met CT on a later season.

Darrel looks the same today as he did then.

So glad I found this.

It’s like a totally different - fun show. Different vibe than modern seasons. Looked up when this aired and it was 2011. Feels older. The show has changed fo much.

Bruh, I love how MTV tried to push Danny as a face of the show, dude was total dog sh*t. 0 and 6 in eliminations. Lol

Coral was a GOAT sh*t talker
her and Evan were steam rolling that season till they got hurt

Wes and Casey were gold, everyone talks about Wes but she gave it back pretty good.

Also THEO!!!

Sidenote: I rarely see him mentioned among the best players, but Evan was a beast, pretty smart, good politically, and athletic as sh*t for his size.

Now I think I'll watch, thanks lol

I do wonder how the arc of the show/“characters” would’ve developed had the Tonya situation not occurred and Kenny and Evan would’ve stuck around. Evan is someone I think could’ve physically and mentally given CT a run for his money. And I don’t think bananas becomes the main character he does with them around either. Even though I know he was aligned with them in JEK.

Also it’s comical a lot of the dialogue but to each other and in the confessionals. This was definitely before cancel culture 😂

Danny like Danny and Melinda? He was America's sweetheart on Real World and then it was all downhill.
