What does that have to do with his family hoping he would RS though?
Basilio doesn’t know the difference between the current redshirt rules (zero game participation) and the medical hardship waiver process. The medical “redshirt” allows playing in 30% of games which must be in the first half of the season. A debilitating injury or illness must be documented and approved (by the league on behalf of the NCAA). So with the mono and leg injury Aidoo was well positioned to win an appeal for the medical waiver. Having now played in the second half of the season, it is no longer an option.
Diboundje might still meet the medical hardship criteria, but if he has had a health condition it has been kept quiet. His last game was the 16th of 30 (at Kentucky), but I’m not clear if the 50% rule applies to only the regular season or if post season is included (which with at least 32 total, the 16th is in the first 50%).
