She's a freaking winner. Have you seen the results at Baylor the last few seasons and how Her teams pounded the LadyVols?
after i looked up her record,i see why, pretty impressive
Kim Mulkey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
but she seems to be a crass person, good thing we all ready have an excellent coach
Kim makes $1.1 million. Last I recall, Holly got a big raise when she signed a 4 year deal in 2012 at $485,000 a year plus extras for performance plus a car.i think CHW will do a great job,the lack of depth showed up at the end of the season,I'm hoping there won't be any major injuries this year and I'm sure Baylor is paying Mulkey well
Maybe that's not such a bad strategy. Didn't Pat do the same thing when she cancelled the uconn series after they got Maya Moore?Don't confuse her coaching ability with the team she just had. Griner was a once in a lifetime player and she only got 1 championship out of that team. I'll take our current staff and go up against her anytime. That's not going to happen because Mulkey has turned tail and run by cancelling the series. How convenient now that Griner is gone.
She may have implied that, but was never willing to state her case. The NCAA didn't find any problem and Pat still cancelled the series. Pat's silence hurt UT and lends credence to uconn's position in the matter.Yes, but for very different reasons. She believed that UCONN landed Moore by dishonest measures.

Anyone think the Tennessee honchos would want to more than double the coaches salary to get Mulkey? Plus, would she even be interested? I don't see it happening.
I hope Holly is happy with her current deal, and it appears so is the administration. Besides, I don't see any other schools banging on the door to pay her more. So, it's a comfortable situation for all that probably will not change.

So now were faced with a situation where we don't play uconn and they have established new major nationally important rivalries while UT is left out in the cold except in Knoxville.
How are the Lady Vols left out in the cold? What powerhouse program does UCONN play that we don't play? That would be NO ONE . Pat had her reasons and I don't care if the NCAA or anyone else didn't find anything, I trust Pat's judgement on the matter. Sometimes you have to do what you think is right whether it is popular or not. She has shown nothing but integrity while she was head of the program. Personally I would like for us to play them, and I think we will again someday. I think Holly will let some time pass and then the series will return. Just because we are not winning the National Championship every year doesn't mean we are taking the back seat. She may have implied that, but was never willing to state her case. I'm just a women's basketball fan in general. I'm a fan of whichever school is doing the best job (in my opinion) during any given year. Y'all may not find this admirable, but it is a sure strategy for personal happiness. It means your team is always a winner.Personally, I think convoluted is a UConn fan named Phil.

I don't get the flavor of the month club fandom, but whatever works for you. Too bad you will never have that feeling of standing beside a smug UCONN fan as the Lady Vols brought home a title in Tampa. You may have been happy, but you will never know the true feeling of pride and happiness that something like that brings.I'm just a women's basketball fan in general. I was a long time fan of the Lady Vols (Candace years, and she's still fantastic. Did you see her drop 30 the other night?) and started losing interest when Pat cancelled the uconn series and the top recruits UT was getting didn't seem to be able to perform while at UT, but did well in the WNBA (Glory for example).
And yes, I tend to be negative. When I'm not here, I'm out at McGhee Tyson criticizing landings.
The past year was a good one for my three favorite teams this year. L'ville, Baylor & uconn. I think Walz is a great coach and was rooting for them until Breanna Stuart started to catch fire at tourney time. I started losing interest in Baylor because I didn't like Sims' attitude and I always thought Griner was a slacker who mainly relied on her God given physical characteristics.
So that leaves uconn as my current favorite. They have great players right down to the end of the bench. Although some don't like his personality, they have the best coach. He's always able to devise a plan to shut down the opposition's best players. It looks like they will dominate the next several years, so what's not to like?
I'd like to see UT come back to it's former stature, but I don't think it's likely under Holly. This will be a critical year for her. She's an ok coach, but not exceptional. I like her as a person and am pulling for her to succeed, but she doesn't have good game management skills.
Much of the coming season is in Mercedes lap, but it will take her a couple of years for her to become a force. Graves is the only star quality player on the team. She will need to put the team on her back until Mercedes gets up to speed.
I've rambled on long enough. I appreciate that this site allows unpopular views as opposed to The Summitt site where closed mindedness is the rule.
