Mullen guarantees win against Bama!

Florida coach Dan Mullen said whether his team can reach the College Football Playoff with two losses is ultimately out of his control, but that didn't stop him from projecting confidence heading into a showdown with No. 1 Alabama in the SEC championship game.
"We'll think about that on Saturday night after we win," Mullen said Thursday of the potential debate.

The beat down cometh... way to go, coach! LOL.
Whom cares what Mullen says?

There must some toxic waste substance around the Florida football complex that causes anyone connected to that program to lose their freaking mind and do and/or say ridiculous things on a regular basis.

The beat down may cometh, but it’ll have nothing to do with this quote.

It’s funny how most of the SEC and country is scared to death of Saban and Bama. How dare anyone project confidence, how dare anyone even entertain the idea of beating Bama.

Bama has lost 4 SEC title games, all to the same team. This is not South Carolina or Arkansas rolling in to Atlanta, and it’s not a Florida team coached by Jim McElwain.

It might be time to remind the country who the Florida Gators are, a program with its own storied history in SEC title games.

Nah, let’s just cower back in the corner and worry what cometh because someone dared allude to the possibility of beating Saban. 😱

You don’t have to say either, and can still be very confident without guaranteeing a win before the game.

I’d encourage you to go watch the full quote or interview. For starters, stop saying “guarantee.” That word was never uttered. That’s a cute, but dishonest little trick pulled by dishonest media hacks to accomplish exactly this, people like you repeating it and creating “buzz” where there would otherwise be none.

Mullen was answering a hypothetical about a 2-loss team making the playoffs. He said “when we win” we’ll worry about that. He also went on to say “we’ll have to go play and see” and “it’s out of our control what the committee does.” It was in no way cocky or braggadocio, and he never guaranteed anything.

But go on...

At the risk of acting like I care what Mullen says OR how Alabama might take it, I did not read this to be a guarantee at all.

I read him saying there is nothing to be considered regarding Florida making the playoffs unless they win so there is no reason to think about it until that happens.

I guess Scarborough needs some clickbait.

OP has a history of being a tad hyperbolic with his posts. It’s part of his charm. 😂

I had to reread that several times to find anything r/t a guarantee. People see what they want to see.

Got no love for the guy, do respect for coaching skills, but Mullen's focused on task at hand, no need in talking about it if they don't beat bama.

Florida vs. Alabama in SEC title game: 4-5
Florida vs. others in SEC title game: 3-0

Alabama vs. Florida in SEC title game: 5-4
Alabama vs. others in SEC title game: 3-0

But Florida is supposed to bow at the feet of Alabama and beg forgiveness for our insensitivities and disesteem.

multiple outlets reported it as "a guarantee" so instead of researching or just simply reading/hearing the actual quote, most people just run with the headline. Sports news is no different than regular news that way.

Absolutely right. “Journalism” is dead in all of its forms.
