Multiple Oregon Football Players Hospitalized [S&C]

If you think they could quit at anytime, you've never been a part of a college S&C program. That may be a statement the school puts out, but there is absolutely 0% chance they could quit at any time.

Same thing a coach for TAMU said as when he eliminated almost 80% of his roster due to over conditioning. Quiting means bye bye scholarship. This is not a recreation league where you just lose membership fees. Quiting at this level has major ramifications to these players. You cannot condition this way in 2016.

Eh, there's nothing about team workouts/practices that are "Voluntary".

My thoughts exactly. I could easily see a coach shouting some ultimatum at the athletes like threatening playing time, etc.

The really interesting thing as a Duck is that we've had the same weight and conditioning coach for a couple decades. And under Helfrich conditioning got lax....

I just don't understand how a conditioning coach changes that much with a head coach change.

Many of the Duck players are saying these guys just weren't in good enough shape when drills started. They are in full support of the new conditioning coach.

It's not unheard of for players to stand behind a coach even if he made a mistake.

As Vol fans though if we woke up to news like this we'd be livid and definitely be asking some serious questions.

:eek:lol: :eek:lol: :eek:lol: :eek:lol:

Their workout intensity resembled something you'd see at the local gym. Believe it if you want but I saw witnessed workouts and calling them laid back would be an understatement. However, the program they have going on now resembles a good S&C program

Coaches are always in the training/workout rooms, many of the injuries suffered this year had nothing to do with training or lack thereof, just bad luck. You cannot prevent certain injuries from happening no matter how hard you train, nor can you prevent certain players from having bad attitudes.

Just hired Tuesday. Holy cow.
Holy cow is right! Too bad no one told him he was driving in one of the worst places at one of the worst times to have been drinking previously. He was stopped at 2:12 a.m. right around the time bars stop serving/close (2:00-2:30), in an area dubbed the "Barmuda Triangle" for the number of drinking establishments located there. It's always saturated with patrons and police every Friday and Saturday night.

I never blamed the injuries on S&C but it was evident against App St that the team was weak. The OL was being pushed around, defense had trouble getting off the field. The players simply didn't dedicate themselves in the weight room last winter and summer. I watched some workouts and it resembled something you'd see at the local gym
