Multiple Players Test Positive

Then you would think wrong. As a single example that was covered by the news was a broadway actor, 41, who lingered in the hospital for months before finally passing... Was he an outlier of the broader statistics? Yes. Was he the only healthy under 60 patient to succumb to COVID? Not at all.

People in this thread and others across this very site have mentioned people they know under 60 who have passed that were in good health prior to getting COVID.

Even then, much of the preexisting conditions causing complications is simply obesity. Not morbid obesity... just obesity, which accounts for almost 40% of Americans.

We need the data on the outliers. Not counting obese, elderly or people with severe health problems, what % of people who get Coronavirus die? I would wager it is a tiny fraction of half of one percent.

Can I see the link to the Broadway guy? I think what people consider to be good health might not exactly be good health.

Thanks I'll check it out
You might be right. I can't find anything saying he had any previous issues. It's peculiar to me that his leg was amputated though. I wonder if the hospital treating him went about it the wrong way. I guess it doesn't matter because part of the danger of this Virus is the lack of data. I'm generally distrustful of modern media outlets but I think you may be right on this one. I suppose I could be underestimating the Virus a little, though this sort of outcome might be the exception instead of the rule. Anyhow the Chinese and our inept government for allowing this in the country.

36% of US is obese. 14.8% are elderly

Those aren't the outliers. Those are the known knowns. We all know the elderly, the ill and the fatties need to stay home and Quarantine.

What is the mortality rate for people not in any of those 3 categories?
How long should 50% of the population stay home?

UAB Infectious Disease Dir. Michael Saag tells us the risks of playing college football during a pandemic: “All it takes is a hotspot on campus, and it spreads throughout the team. My message today is to expect that. The question is: At what point do we get alarmed?”

We are so very, very far from this COVID being through.

on what medical professionals have told him about the coronavirus: "They have said this is not a one-year problem. This is an 18- to 24-month problem. Don’t be surprised if it extends into the next school year and sports season.”

If this doctor is not lying, his death was avoidable:

LAVol1, with all respect, there is no cure for almost all viruses outside of a vigorous immune system. Dr.( and I use the term loosely) Immanuel is not using science to guide her treatment. Two high quality studies have shown no benefit or else were stopped due to excessive morbidity or mortality with hydroxychloroquine use early and late. One of my colleagues earlier said that we might as well give Tic Tacs and I agree. Please be careful with the volumes of misinformation on multiple sites and sources. It is a virus our immune systems have not “seen” before. It doesn’t vote and it doesn’t care about anything other than integrating rna into our cells. I tell my patients 4 things on their departure; wash your hands frequently, wear your mask, keep your distance and pray for God’s protectIon. Unlike others, I don’t have a lot of answers and most of my colleagues will agree. Be careful.

Finally. A voice of reason in a sea of crazy. Several folks on here (and they know who they are) should pay serious attention to the truth in your message. But, alas, they are more interested in theories from crackpots or the pseudo scientists who wouldn’t know real science if it bit them in the rear. And then their Coca Cola Cowboy bravado convinces them they are too manly to not be selfish and look out for their fellow man by simply wearing a mask. As long as it supports the warped views of their (and I use the term loosely) President, they’ll buy into it and then sell it to their uneducated friends.

There was no possible way to keep the virus out once it spread beyond China. Most of the New York original infections were brought here by people traveling from Europe.

I personally think it's a 5 year plus problem. Don't get me wrong, people will stop caring as much about it soon enough and move on with their lives thankfully, and better treatments are on the way. I have little faith in the effectiveness of a vaccine, but most certainly could be wrong about that. If they really do come up with a vaccine that is highly effective then it will certainly make one wonder.

I think the virus is with us until it mutates into something so weak we barely even notice it anymore. I also think that most people will soon realize the foolishness of shutdowns as well, and there will end up being tremendous (and deserved) pressure on our so-called leaders to end most all restrictions.

I wish you could discuss masks with @ sjt18. He has been going back and forth for a few days with me regarding the value of masks.

What about her “Sex with Demons”” position and why did you not address it ?

I couldn't agree more with what he says at the end of the video.
As much as I resent some excesses in our reaction to the china virus. I can think of no reasonable objection to wearing mask in inclosed public spaces. I think the mask is the key for us returning to our normal lives and activities
