Good find.

Not exactly sure how some people can reconcile their religious beliefs with proof of existence such as this.

I don't think dinosaurs interferes with my belief. It's how more of a question of how they came to be. Plus, how old is the Earth, etc.

6,000 years (give or take a few billion...)

Is there anywhere in the Bible where it specifically states a date indicating the Earth is about 6,000 years old, or is that just an idea some scholars have gotten from interpreting and consolidating various timelines in the good book?

I would have to think it comes from adding up the numbers throughout the genealogies in the Old Testament...???

I am of the belief that the Earth is billions of years old.

I believe its calculated from the geneologies given of Christ in the New Testament. That dates the earth to roughly 6000 yrs based on the bible.

I forget who originally came up with that, but I know that he managed to pin down the exact day the Earth was created. His son evidently was able to get the exact hour. I wasn't sure how they ever arrived at their conclusions, however. I learned about in archaeology classes. As you might imagine, archaeologists think that stuff is a complete crock.

I'm confused. Are you saying there are religions that simply deny the existence of dinosaurs outright?

I think all of them would deny that dinosaurs walked the earth 30-40 million years ago. The bible dates the Earth to roughly 6k.

The Bible does not date the Earth. If anything, the Bible only dates man's relationship with God.

Actually, doesn't it say that the Earth was sort of always there, but God just shaped it, or something to that effect?

The "7 Days" creation story is Genesis ch 1. The second creation story starts at Genesis 2:4. If you read closely you will see the obvious contradictions.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1)

The bible clearly states that God created it.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. If you take the Bible literally then it is very clear that God created the Heavens and the Earth.

Isn't that clear enough to you?

First, I do not take the Bible literally, especially not Genesis. That book is definitely written as an allegory: truth not historical fact.

Second, you clearly have no idea what you are talking about if you think, for one second, that I even implied that God did not create the "Heavens and the Earth." However, I do not believe he did it in 7 days. I do not believe he molded it out of clay, either. I believe that God was indeed sophisticated enough to not only create "science" but to use the process of evolution to create his masterpiece.

...clear as mud...

Seems pretty clear to me he never said anything to the contrary.
