Mummified Dinosaur found in North Dakota

I think all of them would deny that dinosaurs walked the earth 30-40 million years ago. The bible dates the Earth to roughly 6k.

Ah, gotcha. I've heard of those that go by the 6K deal. I don't buy it. It just doesn't make sense to me. I just can't reconcile it with too many things that seem scientifically valid.

The church I grew up in was hardcore legalistic baptist, so hardcore they chose Distinctevely Baptist over Indy Baptist.

The pastor from the pulpit said that the moon landing proved the Earth was only a few thousand years old.

Why? Because it was anticipated that the moon dust would be feet thick it if were millions of years old. So the lunar module's legs were outfitted for the thick dust.

When they landed it was only a few inches deep!

That is good times!

How would a fly get dino blood in it. Do you mean mosquito? Wait a minute their skin is tough as iron. I'm confused now.

First, I do not take the Bible literally, especially not Genesis. That book is definitely written as an allegory: truth not historical fact.

Second, you clearly have no idea what you are talking about if you think, for one second, that I even implied that God did not create the "Heavens and the Earth." However, I do not believe he did it in 7 days. I do not believe he molded it out of clay, either. I believe that God was indeed sophisticated enough to not only create "science" but to use the process of evolution to create his masterpiece.

...clear as mud...

I can agree with this... I don't know why scientists and religious fanatics can't accept that their ideas could possibly coexist.

I think scientists confuse evolution with adaptation. I do think it's pretty interesting that a lot of birds are very closely linked to dinosaurs accroding to their DNA. The fact is we simply have no way of knowing for sure what happened, when it happened, and why. Carbon dating isn't exactly rock solid; it's iffy at best. However, a lot of the Bible is getting scientific proof to back it up. All I know is my belief in that we WERE created. Look outside and tell me that's all by chance. Everything else is details, and no one on this board or anywhere else is going to convince everyone that they're right. It's all a matter of belief, whether it's evolution, creation, etc.

However, if there is a Jurassic Park, I vote we make OE go in first.

Good find.

Not exactly sure how some people can reconcile their religious beliefs with proof of existence such as this.

It all comes down to translation in the various languages the different books the bible comes from. When they speak of "days" in Genesis there are a few different meanings of that particular word depending on the context in which it was used. It has been theorized that days are actually ages or periods of time. Genesis also goes on to talk about "giants" that lived on Earth in those days. The problem is we try to understand what we can not possibly fathom. Like the vast expanses space we can try to analyze it and come up with a good idea but after more study we find that we have to change that theory because of new information that has come to light. Bottom line we can not fathom God and his place and role in everything.

And that's not even my favorite example. For those that don't know it's not "Thou shalt not kill". Whether you're variously finding it as "Ratsach", "Nakah", "Harag" or whatever else you want to dig up, it's "Thou shalt not MURDER". There is no need to feel biblically guilty about shooting a guy that's trying to haul your 8yr daughter out the window at 2:00 AM. That's not even remotely compared to some dude wasting the poor clerk at the 7-11 because they didn't empty the cash drawer quick enough as far as the 5th Commandment is concerned.

i'd have no problem at all killing someone who was trying to hurt me or my family. i'd hate for someone to break into my house. i'll have to get new carpet, and re paint the walls

Yes, the 7 Day story is filled with all kinds of symbolism that leads to various interpretations. It was either Augustine or Chesterson (forgive me the egregious difference between the two) who proposed that the steps taken throughout the Days is actually a metaphor for how man comes to understand the world through scientific discovery...
