Tentatively Champ. I'd like to see both of their staffs side by side before I make a decision.

Best hire is Vandy's. Not for the coach but the fit for the college. Of the 3 Golden is the safest pick. Assistants mentioned for muskrat bring him down right now. Curious what Golden does.

Al Golden is the best hire of those two.

Also, Gus Malzahn is going to lose like everyone else did at Vandy. He will be an awful HC.

Golden is a safe hire. He may not make them a national power ,but the program won't slip.

Muschamp is going out on a limb.

I have been a member of VN for a little over a year and a hlf now or so and read alot but dont post much.

However, I dont see why everyone is so critical of the muschamp hire. I remember everyone wanting him to be our coach this time last year. Now, dont get me wrong I love coach Dooley and believe he will do well here, but i think everyone would agree that the majority of people on here thought and wanted mushcamp to UT last year.

I think Golden will do well, just as he did at temple, but I dont see how everyone can easily say that Miami did a better job with this higher. Just my opinion.

Our second coach in 2 years just left us 3 weeks before signing day. We would have embraced anybody we had heard of before.

Just like everybody wanted Troy Calhoun, or David Cutcliffe? Maybe some people did but the majority did not, and we had heard of both of them.

In our case, I think we scored with CDD, but no one knew he would do so well with so little in his first year at UT.

Golden by a huge margin. I'm just glad Florida hired another jerk. Makes things more fun.

I don't agree with this. First of all, not "everyone" wanted Muschamp. There were a group who was giddy because it was a name. Those who weren't figured we were taking who we could get at that point and were more worried about Cut getting back in.

If the Florida job is what it is cracked up to be, this is a reach and Muschamp is a lucky SOB.

you sure are throwing around "everybody" alot.
i DID NOT DID NOT DID NOT want the chump from TX.
i was in favor of leach but think DD will do a superb job and think TN found a solid football coach.
bit please dont lump "everybody" in the same group - even if the majority give that feel

But TN is going through its worst stretch ever and it looks like Dooley has a pretty average(by SEC standards) recruiting class coming in. I believe Malzahn could take advantage of the TN situation and pull a few more recruits and manage a 6 win team and make a bowl.

Bobby Johnson made a bowl. What's your point?
