Am I the only one that thinks Muschamp is getting a little ahead of himself. I am not expecting USCjr to be much better than last season, and I see them struggling to make a bowl game.

Muschamp on realistic 2016 expectations:

“I don’t look at long-term goals,” Muschamp told a Gamecock Club gathering in April. “I am looking at this 2016 football season and trying to win the East and get to Atlanta. That is going to be our goal every single year that I am here, because that is realistic.

“That is where we ought to be. We ought to be competing to win the East.”

Hilarious. :eek:lol::crazy:

At least he didn't say he needs 5-6 years to rebuild. I like he's telling the fans the team is an SEC contender. Better to watch the fallout when they get smacked around.

South Carolina has enough talent in state to compete for the East every year if the school got serious about it. I just can't see Muschamp getting there.

They were 3-9 last season with a loss to the Citadel. Their roster should be worse this year. I just don't see how they win many games in the SEC?

As long as Clemson remains the force it currently is, there's no chance.

Not while competing with a dominate Clemson at the moment.

I can't wait to see him get embarrassed in front of his home crowd on October 29th.

A story about South Carolina and you find a way to throw it back at Tennessee.
I'm shocked.

Clemson is king in South Carolina. Better tradition, fanbase, resources.

If I was an opposing coach, and a recruit was thinking about playing for him in any compacity (HC or Cordinatior), I would show his parents clips like that. I am not saying a coach should be like Fulmer and just clap when player makes mistake, but I am sure most would agree he is crazy!

What would you expect him to say?

Hell, pay me $3-$5 Million per year and I'll say just about anything too.

Muschamp just doesn't have the recruiting numbers yet. He has been scrounging up talent at an amazing rate. Muschamp has always been well thought of as a recruiting savant. He will discipline his team and have the defense playing over their head. Just has never been able to put together both sides of the ball.

There is a stubbornness about head coaches that are their strength and often their Achilles heel. To watch Driskel throw for over 4000 yards and 32 TDs at LaTech and Jacoby Brissett at NCS throw for over 5000 yards and 50 TDs only 9 int. in his two seasons says he had enough QB talent to make a better showing at Florida. Life is full of second chances and more so in college football. But this time, he has got to figure out how to coach the offense without screwing up the tempo and scheme. Muschamp needs to coach effort and accountability, get out of the way and let competent offensive minds do their thing.

Easier said than done.

To be fair, that 3-9 team we keep talking about took us to the wire in Knoxville and required a huge forced fumble in order for us to not choke another 4th quarter lead.

Muschamp is talking out of his ass, yes. And they have a awful roster. They won't win the East. But it's still the SEC and I don't predict we will just walk into Columbia and run them off the field. I hope and pray I'm wrong though.
