Must eat places in New Orleans

Slightly related, any recommendations on places to stay? Will be there Sunday-Wednesday and will be doing the basic tourist stuff. Hoping there are good, clean and maybe cheaper options available that people have experience with.

We are staying at the JW Marriott. Most of it is paid for by my girlfriend's company since she is there for a conference. The couple of nights we had to pay for she got at a discounted rate.

This past May, from Sat. to Wed., I stayed at the Royal Sonesta in the French Quarters for 216.00 per night - taxes included. I got this rate off of Hotwire.com. It was a good hotel (Travelocity 4 stars) and i would recommend it. I am sure there are cheaper options in the French Quarters but I would be cautious of trying to go too cheap.

I have stayed at the Royal Sonesta, great place and good pool bar.
