My attempt to update L.V.'s big board.

here is the deal though that you have to take into consideration. While this year is a good year for Tennessee high school football, its still not great compared to other states. And Tennessee doesn't have this kind of in-state every year like states like Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Texas, and Louisiana do. If you don't recruit a lot of kids from out of state, then the years where there is no in-state talent, we will have no pipelines and it would be near impossible to cherry-pick. Being in state or not should be very low on a priority for who to be higher on a recruiting board. The coaches should evaluate and recruit the kids they think fit best, along with talent. Period. All this in-state talk is completely stupid and waste of discussion. Dooley isn't an idiot. He wants to win. He will recruit the players he thinks will best help him win. So everyone please stop talking about the instate stuff. And BTW: the first part of this post was just hypothetically speaking, not saying that is what they are doing or what they should do, just an extra thought.

I like your thought volguy0992.

I guess what I'm saying is 4-5*: go wherever you need to and get those guys. three star and down, do everything you can to stay in-state.

I know I'm no coach and blah blah blah. I do believe the coaching staff will make the right calls..... I'm just saying I'd rather cheer for a 3* TN boy as opposed to a 3* out-of-state recruit.

I know everyone lists Antonio Richardson as an offensive lineman, but it's within the realm of possibility that he could play DT. He's 6'6", 310 and runs right around a (legit) 5 flat 40. That's more straight-ahead speed than Dan Williams.

The reason I say that he might be considered at DT (if UT gets him) is because UT seems to be in on more OL guys than DLs.

It wouldn't be a stretch for Richardson to play DT since he's reportedly played it in high school. I've also read previously that's where he'd prefer to play.

Agree. Take the best players that fit the best, regardless of where they're from. Of course, if there are great players in-state (a la Jacques Smith), grab them. I don't want to be clamoring for 3* TN recruits though, just cause they're from TN.

Jonathan Rose is a heavy aubrun lean b/c of legacy. fla does not lead. the guy you are thinking of is chris jones.

But thats pretty much the only mistake I found. Good Job!

It's funny that Troy was the only offer for this kid when we offered. Now look, everyone is jumping on the train. I have so much confidence in the staff when it comes to evaluating talent. I really hope we can sneak in a couple extra wins this coming year and close with some of these kids we are battling for.

I was skeptical about Dooley at first, but got behind him because he's our coach. I really think he will get Tennessee back to the top of the SEC in a few years.

Nice work on the list. This weekend is going to be insane. I'm so excited. I really hope we can pull off 4-6 commitments. Does anyone plan on making a thread for the campers so we don't have to weed through the excel file?

OK, I'm fine with that statement. Also, from my observations this seems to be Dooley's plan.

Back to my original statement, I like Dooley, but he fooled me by saying he was putting a fence around TN state border. Indeed, he is not doing what he said. Instead he is following the plan stated above, and going after the best players, no matter where they're from.

with 2 and 3 star recruits regardless of where they are from. This is not Boise State nor the WAC and the competition in SEC land is full of talent and it is not mediocre period. Tn just does not play high level hs football in order to grow great recruits.

Here's an idea - instead of editing an excel file and uploading it repeatedly, just do it on google documents. That way nobody needs to download the file, nobody needs excel to view it, and whenever you click the link you always see the latest version.

i uploaded the latest file there to show how it would work. I will transfer ownership of this to ernieman84 and/or Lord Vader if they want to go forward using it.
