my concern right now

feels like another year. I forgot we played them

IMO a game like that we shouldn't be penalized for. We didn't schedule them, they were the host of the best pre season tournament this year, we shouldn't be penalized for that.

Now other teams that do go out and schedule d2 opponents I'm fine with being penalized. I just don't feel that it's right for them to be penalized for playing in Maui basically.

Do you want this guy to show the vols how tall the rims are from the hardwood?

We aren't penalized. It just doesn't count. It's neither a good nor a bad thing.

Is that I think an advantage may be gained tomorrow by having to play today. Teams get rid of the nerves and are used to the rim and gym.
I hope its a nonfactor, but I almost wish we didn't have a bye, just because we would have a better chance at winning 2 games if we didn't.

Just an observation and thought. Not wishing against the #2 seed. Just saying.

thats why they have the shootaround a few hours before game time. (and no, not the shoot around you see while youre getting to your seats, 20 minutes before the game). They have a shootaround (aka walkthrough) that are normally anything but. Most teams like to get after it a little bit, if its potentially bothersome conditions. Break in everything. Granted its nothing like the actual game, but it does help to see the ball go through the hoop and get used to the surroundings. These guys have played in 20 gyms this year, and hundreds in their lives. So this isnt really a big problem for them. Theyre pros.

It not counting penalizes us.

If that win counted we'd be in right now most likely.

I highly doubt the committee is fooled by win numbers. No one in that room is going to say something like, "If only Tennessee had gotten 1 more win against a terrible team, I'd have no hesitation putting them in. When you are on the bubble, it's no longer about the total number of wins. They are discussing what you've accomplished in detail and comparing it against the other bubble teams.

No but make that gane count and our RPI is better along with every other ranking.

IMHO for this team

Fresh legs in the 2nd half > getting rid of the nerves and used to the rim and gym

A win over a very low RPI team doesn't help your RPI at all. If the RPI of the opponent is low enough, it could actually hurt by lowering your overall SOS.

It's all moot now and silly to argue over. We need to win tonight. We need to win tomorrow. Let's make it so the committee doesn't have a hard choice. Let's make their choice for them.

Like I've said before; we have a lot better chance to win this tourney than the NCAA, therefore we need the bye.

A neutral site game against a low rpi would have helped.

We jumped around 15 spots for beating south Carolina on the road.

It would have helped.
