HUH? Last time I checked, they had a four year senior at QB, without two freshmen behind him. Last time I checked, they didnt have the kind of WR or RB talent that Tennessee had last year. Last time I checked, Tennessee didnt lose "it's motor" on Defense the season before, along with an all pro caliber LB and Safety.

I don't see ANY comparisons between this seasons Dawgs and last season's Vols.

Its not as clear when you break it down to that level, but the point is that they are sneaking in under the radar and may not be taken as seriously as they should be... like us last year. Also, Georgia has some SERIOUS revenge on its mind after we squashed all their championship hope aspirations last year.

Sorry, still don't see it.

When you make a blanket comment such as that, you HAVE to break it down, and when you do, it simply doesn't add up.

Whatever comparison you want to make, UGA is going to be OK. They took a big hit on defense that will be tough to overcome, but I think their losses on offense are a little overblown. Greene was very good, but they've had problems scoring TDs for two years.

I know it's just one game, but Shockley looked better against us than Greene did. It was probably an anomaly, but he is good enough to score some points for them with his ability to escape the rush.

New QB without much experience. That was the point. If anything, having a senior with some actual important playing time gives them an edge over a true freshman.

Last time I checked, they didnt have the kind of WR or RB talent that Tennessee had last year.

They have maybe the best trip in College Football with a very good OL.

You can slice it anyway you all want, Richt won't let this team just fall over and die.

People talk about UGA this year the way they talked about UT last year.

They will finish 3rd, they dont have a QB with any experience, they are falling out of the East race....

Good god, before last year...people on this board talked about Fulmer quitting....

The comparison aren't just few....but many

Hard to use three RB's at once. They also have lost their top FB since practice started. I forgot that lil Herschal was the savior down there, what was I thinking? *sarcasam off*

As for Shockley, you aren't going to get away with calling him inexpierenced. Before this season he has played in 26 games at QB for the Dawgs. He has accounted for 13 TD's and has completed over half of his passes at .504 He has also averaged 4.3 per cary rushing the ball. He threw a 37-yard TD pass in Nokia Sugar Bowl win over FSU. The only reason he hasn't played more is because of the injury in 2003 that caused him to miss over half the season. Quick, who is the back-up if that happens again?

I never said Georgia would be awful, but they are not even close to last year's Tennessee team and Shockley certainly does not compare to the three-headed monster of Ainge-Schaeffer-Clausen. He also is a much better QB, in a much better situation than Leak was in last yr.

Very optimistic! :good: I think the Vols will lose 1 or 2 games and get a major bowl bid. Possibility of playing LSU twice. The game or games the Vols have to win are against Georgia and LSU. Gotta beat the Gators in "The Swamp." I foresee UGA as the team to beat in the SEC East. If the Vols are 3-1 going up against UGA they have to win. They Vols cannot beat 3-2 after UGA. Would be tough to get a top 5 after 2 losses-possible top 10 though. :good:

You said you hadn't heard that they had the talent at RB that we had last year...I would take our RB's over them but the fact is they have 3 very good RB's as well. No one questioned our RB's either heading into 2004....it was our QB problem last year that stuck out.

Odd, that is exactly what UGA seems to be lacking per all media outlets....thus...

Quick...how many games has Shockley started?

He has seen some important game time (said that above as well) but overall has not played that much in 3 years on the sidelines.

No one hear said the UGA team was the same as UT's last year....where did you get that? We said the media was TALKING about UGA the way they were last year....which is true. How many times did you hear the media tell us last year that we had fallen off the mark with UGA....and even some said UF? I was tired of it.

UGA is now the team that is falling off....with a new QB and important players lost.

Just bringing this back towards the front.

The season starts very soon and I don't want to lose track of my picks.

If they're off too much I can then delete it. Just kidding!

I'll take it like a man.

and then there is Bama - I think this could be one of the toughest games we have all year - they are pissed with us - it's at Bama - there is something about that game that just bugs me.

Just my 2 cents

Them being pissed and being in Tuscaloser has nothing to do with the fact that we have better players, better coaching, and more to play for. They can be pissed all they want. You think we won't play with any emotion?
We are better on the road anyway...so that argument doesnt fly.

OK, I was way off on my UT score but hit the UAB on the money.

If we'd have played the rest of the game like we played the first 6 minutes offensively, we would have made my spread easily.

OK, IF frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their butts. Fair enough.

I'm still sticking with my score agains the Gators. We have far more experience across the board and I believe we have greater depth. Plus, we have the luxury of an early wake up call. While the Gators are dancing in the Swamp over pummeling Wyoming we're getting back to work and have a week off to boot.

We should hope for a Florida blow out of which ever hyphen school the Gators play this week. Let the Urban myth swell.

Our front 7 camps out in the Gator backfield next week. Leak will have Mahelona nightmares.

As I've previously said, this game comes down to who runs the ball the best and we're going to do that.

Riggs looked really strong Saturday.

Put the extra fire of a big game in his belly and he'll torch the Gators big time.

Vols take this one 27-10.
